Reading suggestions: 10 year old boy - Alison
http://bohemiancoast.livejournal.com/161041.html
Reading suggestions: 10 year old boy. March 17th, 2011. Hello chaps: this is a sort of semi-regular 'recommend books for my child' post. Background. Daughter is voracious, self-directed reader who works with libraries to find the sort of thing she likes to read. He's currently devouring Little Brother with great enthusiasm. He needs, I think, plenty of plot and strong young characters. Definite bonus points for computers and video games. We have pretty much no luck with classic books for him. Mark Walden...

Code Geass - cartesiandaemon
http://cartesiandaemon.livejournal.com/944022.html
May 5th, 2015 @ 10:29 pm. Half way through season 1 of the Code Geass anime box set dvds. Random thoughts, without much spoilers:. Thank you to Alex for recommending it, it's exactly the sort of thing I like. It makes much more sense than it sounds like! But also, everyone's uniforms (military and school) are ridiculously sexy all the time for no reason. But I can't tell by looking between western and japanese and indian (? OTOH, I'm very curious to know more but not as emotionally engaged as I might be ...

For this prompt on characteraday What is this… - The World I Can Live In
http://wren10514.livejournal.com/39643.html
The World I Can Live In. Mar 13th, 2010. What is this item? The wings of a magical creature - fairy-like but human sized. A collector - the creatures shed their wings as they grow. Collectors take them because they can tell there's magic in the wings, but don't have a way to access it.yet. How important is it to the story? Fantasy - mad scientist angle on processing magic could blur it into sci-fi. 2 comments Leave a comment. Mar 14th, 2010 09:21 am (UTC). Yay, fun . Mar 14th, 2010 09:29 am (UTC).

People don't know their classics - Simon Tatham. People don't know their classics. At work the other day a fellow developer and I were discussing incomplete array types in C, and at one point in the conversation he referred to them using a phrase which gave me a perfect opportunity to reply ‘Arrays of Unspecified Size? I don't think they exist.’ Sadly, I got a blank look. Have any other reply than ‘Bunnies, bunnies, it must be bunnies’ –. Bah People don't know their classics! Comments Leave a comment.

The World I Can Live In. The things you find yourself looking up. Mar 26th, 2010 at 8:39 PM. Today for one of the stories in my Gifts series I was looking up the effects of a bad trip on mushrooms and what you should do if someone you know is having a bad trip. The average writer's search history has got to be pretty weird. Just off the top of my head here's some of the searches I've made for stories and novels:. A formula for calculating the force and fatality of car crashes. Structure of Jupiter's moons.

Ramblin Man /or/ what I did with my weekend. - The Flat Atom Society. July 29th, 2015. Ramblin Man /or/ what I did with my weekend. This weekend for my birthday treat we went to Ramblin Man, a new rock/blues festival in Kent. We camped, the first time the littles had, so that was exciting. But we did the option that meant we hired a tent and it was all set up. A break for lunch and Ferris wheel followed. Don't fear the Reaper, because they have to, and finishing with Cities on Flame with Rock n Roll.

Adages II: The Adagening - Simon Tatham. Adages II: The Adagening. Since I made my adages post. Last year, I've had a few afterthoughts, so here's a second instalment of things I seem to find myself saying a lot. I'll start with a more or less frivolous one, which I tend to think of as the. Law of the Kitchen. In a kitchen there's nowhere safe to stand. Or perhaps no matter where you stand in a kitchen, you're in someone's way. Because it makes a nice one-. Happen; tell me what did! Also on the theme of ...

I know about the superstition. I'd never heard of the superstition. Are a bad present for non-superstitious reasons. I used to be bad at remembering my Dr's name, but now I have a 'Dr Foo' it's easy! I just need a Nurse Bar. I got that joke. I didn't get that joke. I got it, but it's not actually funny. Now that WAS funny.
