Monday, March 31, 2014. The Way Hallie Tells It. Lately Hanna has become really enamored with birth stories. She wants me to tell the stories of how she and her sisters were born, what I was doing, what I was eating, all the details I can remember. Then she makes me tell them again and again, ad nauseam. I was nodding my head, impressed that Hallie was remembering the story so closely to the way I always told it, almost word for word. What she said next took me by surprise. Those were things that even I ...

Stop & Read the Roses: October 2014

Saturday, October 11, 2014. 1 Mile, 31 Miles. Today was the big day. The day we've all been waiting for, for months. Anticipation and anxiety for how the day would go were at fever pitch - the runners were feeling it, the spectators were feeling it. How were we even going to get everyone where they needed to be? I am so proud of my runners. I hope to run with them next year! Hanna will be doing the pumpkin run next year. I can't even believe how big they are all getting. Devin at mile six. I definitely c...

Friday, February 28, 2014. You want to get a lot of attention? First, take a shower. Then take three really cute little girls to the mall. Next put a newborn into a Moby and prepare yourself. The hardest part will be not breaking down into a puddle of sobbing post partum tears when the strangers, with admiration in their eyes, keep telling you what a good mom you are. Try to believe them when they say this. Last week I sent this email to some people, soliciting advice. That just got peed on. I'm at a loss.

Tuesday, September 23, 2014. You Never Know: My Life. There is a video circulating on my Facebook feed about a mom and the service she gives to others and the way it makes her feel. Maybe you've seen it, maybe you haven't, maybe you don't care. You can watch it here. If you do happen to be interested. Criticism: The mom made a hot breakfast for her kids (who has time for that? Criticism: Where is her husband (significant other)? Why doesn't he help out at all? What does it change? Visiting people who nee...

Jenkin Your Chain: March 2014
http://jenkinyourchain.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html
A commentary on the doings of Avery: the boss, Caleb: the muscle, Enzo: the peacemaker, Sarah: the help, and Jesse: the debtor. I finished the 5K at an average pace of 7:51, which isn't fast in the runner's world, but fast to me. Jess in high school would run it at a 5:40 pace, but who's comparing? As he sped off with ease. I absolutely had no air to waste in speech, but in my mind I thought, "who is this guy, do I know you? I look that bad? I had none. The pictures from the race photographer confirm...

A commentary on the doings of Avery: the boss, Caleb: the muscle, Enzo: the peacemaker, Sarah: the help, and Jesse: the debtor. I love CrossFit, but maybe only because I adore Alise Oliver, the instructor. We made sure to send her off well, before she left us for a three month sabbatical road trip across the country. Lucky for us, she came back. I'm sure it had everything to do with this video. November 19, 2014 at 10:48 AM. You are such a sweet friend, Sarah. :). Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

A commentary on the doings of Avery: the boss, Caleb: the muscle, Enzo: the peacemaker, Sarah: the help, and Jesse: the debtor. Did a 200 mile relay race ever sound like a good idea? I'm not sure. I was questioning my sanity during the event, particularly while I. Was running, but now I am really glad I did it. We were team Rocky Balbourbon. Get it? Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
