A Little Loopy: Happy (belated) Halloween!

http://alittleloopy.blogspot.com/2010/11/happy-belated-halloween.html

Three girls yarn = trouble. Wednesday, November 03, 2010. We hope you all had a safe and happy Halloween. We LOVE Halloween around these parts, as you. This year was no different! Elliott and my costumes this year were totally inspired by the cutest Garden Gnome costume. Over on Sew Mama Sew. I used a yard and a half instead of a yard and got a pretty respectable length cape. And of course a black Hallowig. This knit up super quick using almost one entire ball of black Patons classic wool. I had plan...

A Little Loopy: Nonnahs' Wedding Quilt

http://alittleloopy.blogspot.com/2008/09/nonnahs-wedding-quilt.html

Three girls yarn = trouble. Tuesday, September 16, 2008. It is simple, yet interesting and offers a great combination of straight lines and floral 'roundedness'. For colors I had two main inspirations: Nonnahs' fairly neutral living room. And, of course, the Doogles. I opted for a solid black backing mainly for the practical purpose of living with a (mostly) black dog. Main Print - Michael Miller for Fabrics LLC. Cream Inner Border - 19th Century Backgrounds II for Marcus Brothers. And finally, what woul...

A Little Loopy: Grandma's Quilt, Part 1

http://alittleloopy.blogspot.com/2009/09/grandmas-quilt-part-1.html

Three girls yarn = trouble. Friday, September 25, 2009. Grandma's Quilt, Part 1. In the last couple of weeks, my mom and I got out the quilt materials and took a look at what was there and what work was needed. My grandma had everything together, the pattern, the quilt blocks and the material she had picked out for the front borders and the back. It was so much fun to open up the pattern and see all of her notes. Quilt layout and embroidery transfer. Did she read the dimensions wrong? She Knits She Rants.

A Little Loopy: Remembering Grandma

http://alittleloopy.blogspot.com/2010/01/remembering-grandma.html

Three girls yarn = trouble. Thursday, January 14, 2010. I mentioned briefly in my last post. That my grandma was ill over Thanksgiving. Things ended up taking a turn for the worse the week or so before Christmas and she passed away on the 28th. I am going to miss her so much, but I am so thankful that she went peacefully and painlessly. I compiled a few more recent pictures of her here. Yellow roses were her favorite flowers, so it was fitting we left some for her. I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday...

A Little Loopy: 10 things for Thursday

http://alittleloopy.blogspot.com/2007/11/10-things-for-thursday.html

Three girls yarn = trouble. Thursday, November 08, 2007. 10 things for Thursday. I feel like it's been forever since I posted anything. Things have been normal, projects are progressing, I've just had some trouble sitting down and focusing. So, since it is still Thursday, and I seem to like to do my random posts on Thursday, that's what you're gonna get. Lucky you ;-). 3 I've got three of the four gift projects started. And the fourth is just waiting for the right project/yarn combo to get sorted out.

Newton's knitting: Leap

http://newtonsknitting.blogspot.com/2009/09/leap.html

Friday, September 11, 2009. A teacher read this essay today for the high school students, in remembrance of September 11. And though posting essays/poetry/etc. is not usually my "thing," I found it very moving. So I thought I'd share it. The poem is by Brian Doyle, and I believe it first appeared in the American Scholar magazine. I found it through PBS. A couple leaped from the south tower, hand in hand. They reached for each other and their hands met and they jumped. The mayor reported the mist. No one ...

Newton's knitting: April 2009

http://newtonsknitting.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html

Thursday, April 30, 2009. I think I've got a banner I'm happy with. Why, oh why, did the other ones I made keep coming out so frickin' huge. Anyway, it's over now. I can get rid of the folder of picture attempts I had named "battle of the banner." No, I'm not kidding. I forgot to put Newton in it, though . . . . Poem in your pocket day. I have to confess - I fall into that category of people who would not ordinarily read poetry. I certainly. Speaks to me, and. So, in order to share a poem today, I am pos...

Newton's knitting: March 2009

http://newtonsknitting.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html

Sunday, March 29, 2009. I must have done something good. That's the only explanation, really, for the shower of good fortune that came my way this week. On Thursday, I picked up the kids from school and came home to find a package. (Is there anything more exciting than an unexpected package? Inside was a lovely belated birthday present from Amy. That's Paca Peds alpaca blend sock yarn, and a project bag she sewed herself. Squee, handmade gifts! It's gorgeous, right? Socks are my keep-in-my-purse knitting...

Newton's knitting: new, again

http://newtonsknitting.blogspot.com/2009/08/new-again.html

Thursday, August 20, 2009. With any sort of luck, this will be my last post about starting a new job. Wednesday was my first day - just new teacher training, really - at my new school, South Shore Charter Public School. SSCPS is a K-12 school, the first charter school in Mass, I'm told. It was founded with a focus on community service, multiple-intelligence learning, and the belief that school is not just preparatory, that kids need to know that what they are doing now. But she has decided to move to be ...
