"courage, dear heart": April 2015
http://kulpheartfrankenfield.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
Courage, dear heart". Monday, April 27, 2015. I am a lion." Colson claimed with a cheeky grin. Until yesterday. Yesterday, he grew up. Yesterday, he became a miniature man. With a 401K. Yesterday, he explained, "I am a boy and you are a girl.". And I wanted my lion back. So, there is that- My delinquency in recording the sentimental benchmarks of my children's lives. Colson renounced his jungle throne. Kincaid is scoring like Beckham. And I have recorded none of it. Back to me becoming a mother of a twee...

"courage, dear heart": For Sheryl: A Survivor's Guide
http://kulpheartfrankenfield.blogspot.com/2015/07/for-sheryl-survivors-guide.html
Courage, dear heart". Monday, July 13, 2015. For Sheryl: A Survivor's Guide. My dad once confided - "Melissa, you would make a terrible missionary. You can barely survive without a hairdryer." At the time, I was all teenage-huffy-indignant. But we both knew it was true. I am more of a cultural wimp than I fancied myself. In my head, I am that Zen chick from Eat, Pray, Love. So, with no further adieu, here are 9 things upon which I have relied as an American in Italia. 1 My Autobus Uno. This gorgeous beas...

"courage, dear heart": a vineyard villa
http://kulpheartfrankenfield.blogspot.com/2015/07/a-vineyard-villa.html
Courage, dear heart". Saturday, July 4, 2015. Get ready to hate us. After a month in the Ederle Inn. One Full. Month. We moved into a home. *cue thunderous applause*. Which was no small feat. *praise hands*. Our 18th century vineyard villa offers panoramic views of the terraced orchards and trellised grapevines and flowering fruit trees that grace the verdant landscape. Oh, and as fate would have it- there is a gypsy community right across the street. Perfecto! Batten down the hatches. Books I am Reading.

Dreams really do come true, ours all came wrapped in baby blue..: October 2012
http://thecolvinconnection.blogspot.com/2012_10_01_archive.html
Dreams really do come true, ours all came wrapped in baby blue. 12 October, 2012. Great is Your faithfulness! As I was laying on the table in radiology waiting for a spinal tap, after the first failed attempt in the ER, I was overcome with emotion. He saved me from myself yet again. The last 4 months have been one thing after another. I was put on bed rest at the end of my pregnancy for high blood pressure. He was healthy and in our estimation perfect! Unfortunately, the back pain never let up. Greg was ...

Dreams really do come true, ours all came wrapped in baby blue..: December 2010

Dreams really do come true, ours all came wrapped in baby blue. 22 December, 2010. February 2, 2011. I have an official scheduled c-section date. February 2, 2011. I am to be at the hospital at 5am with the c-section scheduled at 7:45am.YAY! I am so happy because this is the day Greg and I picked and I knew that it was possible we may not get what we wanted. Another neat thing about that day is that it was Greg's, Papaws, sisters birthday. Did you follow that? It was Greg's great aunts birthday. I have n...

Courage, dear heart". Tuesday, July 21, 2015. How do you say in Italian, "I am so sorry- but my son just pooped in the pool"? Yep, that happened. It was not on our Euro-bucket list, but that memory was made anyhow. For a few people. Which leads me to my warning: I am about to go somewhere fabulous. Correction: It will sound fabulous. The pictures might even look fabulous. But, I guarantee that it won't be. Otherwise, you'll have to read between the bribed smiles and filtered photos and keep this in mind:.

"courage, dear heart": June 2015
http://kulpheartfrankenfield.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html
Courage, dear heart". Friday, June 5, 2015. Thank you for flying American Airlines- service to Venice. My name is Melania and it will be my pleasure to make this 9-hour transatlantic flight feel interminable. Before our beverage service begrudgingly begins, I will be doing shots of Tequila behind the curtain. We were in row 21. If you've seen the movie Under the Tuscan Sun. Now calm down, it's Italia, I know. And those cinematic days will come. So, by all means, hate us then. Not all the wine is great.

Courage, dear heart". Thursday, May 28, 2015. It's So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday. What is it about Boyz II Men that makes you want to Claire Danes-ugly sob or couple skate? Those motown Philly songbirds reduce me to a weeping, brace-faced 8th grader every time. Every darn. time. Tis the season of fond farewells. And I hate goodbyes. Scratch that- I loathe them. With a gutteral disdain. So much sad hugging. I barely recognize my stoic self. And it never gets easier. Ever. How could we not say "ciao"...

"courage, dear heart": October 2014

Courage, dear heart". Monday, October 27, 2014. Getting Our Game On. October Saturday mornings are a landscape of skinny jean-clad moms, strung Canon cameras and stainless steel coffee tumblers. Honda Odysseys and sundry SUVs frame a grassy field, reinforcing the yawning, parent perimeter. Lazy weekends are no more. Soccer season is upon us once again. Every Saturday, I strive to not be that family. Mom, did you see that? Mom, look now! Did you see my pass? Did you see me kick? Did you see me score?
