Nick and Janette - our allotment (and anything else). Pigeons lined up ready to devour everything in sight. We have an award einning allotmenteer on our sight but he hasnt been seen this year. January 2006 - Frankie and Mel are starting up an allotment occasionally helped by their husbands, Nick and Steve. The plan is to grow lots of veg and some flowers. Making the raised beds. First 2 raised beds competed. The soil is very stony so now that I have the first raised beds in place I’m digging them over and removing the stones as well as any clumps of weeds I’m finding. I then raked the soil level and was able to remove more stones. Once I was happy with the level and condition of the soil I added compost, chicken feed and fertilizer, then forked it over and left it a few days before planting.
