Those hard to find references — B.R.S.M.

Tet Lett. Is other people. Those hard to find references. In a recent group meeting the old Woodward aphorism came out again: "the only model system worth using is the enantiomer", which led to a scrabble afterwards to find. From - or (-)-camphor, for the final sequence they found that it was in fact more efficient to instead use a resolution of the earlier indoline, accomplished by derivatisation with (. Α-phenylethyl isocyanate and separation of the resulting diastereomers. Woodward put it thusly:.

Jiadifenolide (Part 2: Dalby/Paterson) — B.R.S.M.

Pain is temporary, publications are eternal. Jiadifenolide (Part 2: Dalby/Paterson). In the four months I spent not writing this post, the Paterson Dalby synthesis of jiadifenolide was covered over at Synthetic Nature. But as I’d already put a few hours into it I decided to use the Christmas holidays to dust it off and finish it up. Enjoy! Total Synthesis of Jiadifenolide. Angew Chem. Int. Ed. 7286 7289 [ PDF. DOI: 10.1002/anie.201404224. No fancy starting materials here! CBPA to form only the. Selective...

All this happened, more or less. Maoecrystal V (Part 1: Thomson). Enantioselective Total Synthesis of -Maoecrystal V. Regan J. Thompson. J Am Chem. Soc. Maoecrystal V as the advanced nature of its final letter implies is one of a great many unusual terpinoids from the Chinese flowing plant. Earlier this month and I’ve now got plenty time to write about both of them, starting with that of the Thomson group in this post.

How do people do it? | A PhD's Life
https://joshphd.wordpress.com/2012/02/01/how-do-people-do-it
A PhD's Life. My life as an Assistant Professor…. How do people do it? I suck at it! I truly envy people who have the ability to multitask. I have tried and tried to no avail. It seems that the harder I try to multitask, they more I focus on one task. I desperately need to learn to multitask because it really stinks only being able to focus on one task at a time. 8221; “Is that enough information? 8221; “Can I draw that figure better myself? 8221; The questions go on and on in my mind. It is the perfect job for me in every way. It is in the perfect location. It has the perfect balance between teaching and research (for me). I have great colleagues and great bosses. I really plan on staying here as long as they keep me around. Now back to planning out some syntheses! Laquo; Online Exams. Date : May 2, 2012.

Online Exams | A PhD's Life
https://joshphd.wordpress.com/2012/03/14/online-exams
A PhD's Life. My life as an Assistant Professor…. I know that when I coordinate my course (next Spring) I will be using scantrons for all of my exams! I can’t handle another exam like this morning. After that experience, I can really use a break. Too bad I’m 12-month faculty…no Spring Break for me. However, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I am going to a week-long conference the last week of this month! Laquo; The Idea Book. Date : March 14, 2012. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. 28 and a PhD.
