The Bomb Garden: A pain worse than lower back
http://twelve_orphans.blogspot.com/2006/10/pain-worse-than-lower-back.html
Friday, October 20, 2006. A pain worse than lower back. When planning this blog some 10 hours ago, I had decided to begin with "butt nuggets:" by way of salutation. It'd've been funny, but most of the humor's been sucked out since 10 pm, when Adrienne got a call from her Dad saying her Momd had a stroke. I won't tarry on it more than to point you to her blog. Is I leave to you.]. Tonight, I felt inadequate as shit offering either. Posted by Luke @ 2:21 AM. But more importantly, the agnostic would see the...

The Bomb Garden: Downsides
http://twelve_orphans.blogspot.com/2005/10/downsides.html
Thursday, October 27, 2005. The complaining I did earlier - about how I'm working a lot, how I'm doing editor duties without the pay or the title - has just been placed into glaringly sharp relief. You either do the work of an editor, and get to give yourself the assignments you want, or you are given assignments by an editor, who doesn't give a shit about what you want. What do I know about diamonds? I've learned my lesson sirs, I'll take the extra non-writing workload. Posted by Luke @ 2:22 PM.

The Bomb Garden: The Scene
http://twelve_orphans.blogspot.com/2008/12/scene.html
Wednesday, December 03, 2008. A film review as a scene of a group of friends watching the film as told in a style that recalls Kurt Vonnegut:. The layers of observation build until he’s watching entire cities worth of people observing entire cities of people observing themselves and everyone else. Then, after two hours and four minutes, the man dies. They paused at the bottom. After a long while, the guy spoke: That was exhausting. The film was by Charlie Kaufman. Posted by Luke @ 11:41 PM. At the third ...

The Bomb Garden: Thoughts on Tone
http://twelve_orphans.blogspot.com/2008/01/thoughts-on-tone_8393.html
Sunday, January 06, 2008. A few caveats, some background and at least one digression to get out of the way before I get around to the matter at hand: (1). Five of his novels I've never read anything by Philip Roth until now. The book I'm reading isn't any of the ones I own, The ones I bought on the recommendations of friends or girlfriends or the Pen/Faulkner people or whoever gives out the National Book Award. No, I'm reading Exit Ghost. I generally don't like books I review, for whatever reason. So the...

The Bomb Garden: 07/04/2004 - 07/11/2004
http://twelve_orphans.blogspot.com/2004_07_04_archive.html
Friday, July 09, 2004. The weekend forcast calls for . . . A veritable shit-storm. A front of explosive Diarrhea just rolled in about 15 minutes ago, wreaking havok on my office's toilet. Couple that with a camping trip scheduled for tomorrow and the outlook for this mid-July weekend is dim. Hope is a good thing but it looks like we can expect at least an 80% chance of pressure-washed trees and/or ruined socks. And yes the bathroom I just defiled was the same one my coworker took her soda into. This make...

The Bomb Garden: Turning from God's Middlemen
http://twelve_orphans.blogspot.com/2008/01/turning-from-gods-middlemen.html
Sunday, January 13, 2008. Turning from God's Middlemen. Mike Huckabee is splitting evangelicals along caste lines. Much of the national leadership of the Christian conservative movement has turned a cold shoulder to the Republican presidential campaign of Mike Huckabee. Wary of his populist approach to economic issues and his criticism of the Bush administration’s foreign policy. But that has only fired up Brett and Alex Harris. Posted by Luke @ 9:37 AM. I caught his appearance on SNL Weekend Update, and...

Saturday, September 04, 2004. The problem with politicians. Being part the First. Of an informal (x)-part blog suggesting movies to watch if you are sick to death of the current race for President of the United States. Derived from conversation on a very good blog. I watched a fascinating movie last night. It gave me, I think, an new insight into the whole problem with politics in America (I believe this is a problem inherent in any. People make a big deal of Kerry's waffles. I'd totally forgotten it was...

http://twelve_orphans.blogspot.com/2004_07_18_archive.html
Saturday, July 24, 2004. I’ve taken two showers today. I’m not bragging. The first was hurried, my girlfriend woke me up with a phone call asking me to come take pictures of she and her sisters for a photo album they are going to make for their parents. I was to meet them at Kerry park, about two blocks from my apartment, which has panoramic views of the Space Needle and Seattle proper. They were coming from breakfast. I hadn’t been invited. I was however, the guest of honor at the. Could fuck up so badl...

The Bomb Garden: Wanna buy a monkey? (an update and a promise)
http://twelve_orphans.blogspot.com/2006/07/wanna-buy-monkey-update-and-promise.html
Saturday, July 22, 2006. Wanna buy a monkey? An update and a promise). God I'm handsome (see below). Devastatingly handsome, but lately, crippled. Here's what: the devil-may-care lifestyle of Luke John Baumgarten - a fitness enthusiast, socialite, journeyman writer, scoundrel and peddler of various salves (and a mere 25 years old I might add) - finally caught up with him on no less a day than July 4th. Two bulging discs, kids, and I'm twenty-mother-fuckin-five. A bit more good news: I went and had acupun...

The Bomb Garden: Google, advocacy, misconception
http://twelve_orphans.blogspot.com/2005/10/google-advocacy-misconception.html
Friday, October 21, 2005. Google, advocacy, misconception. This has nothing to do with me, other than being the transcriber of Colin Meloy's words. Without knowing it- certainly without planning it- the questions I asked him last Sunday would discredit the story our competing publication, 7, would run today. Read on. Quoth 7's piece on the Decemberists. A great artist needs an obsession . Jeff Mangum. Has Anne Frank . The Decemberists' Meloy has pirates. Any plans to write one? I know you hate the compar...
