I worked with Fabio to turn his designs into working fonts, mini Tattoo and mini Tattoo Light, part of the typographic suite that integrate Fabio’s massive tribute to Rio de Janeiro. Hand made titling and animation for medium-length film "Diante do Espelho". The film is directed by Mário Franca and João Faissal, featuring the music of Renascimento, of musicians Tyaro Maia and Dudu Souto, and was entirely shot under moonlight in Rio's countryside. Huge thanks to everyone at Renascimento, Mário Franca, João Faissal and Mariana Bittencourt, with special thanks to Ana Franco for animating my pen strokes for the film's opening sequence.

Giros" is a colection of small publications made for raising funds for audiovisual projects by Rio de Janeiro based production company Giros. I made four booklets explaining their ongoing projects, two television series called "The Immortals" and "Women of Words", as well as two feature length documentaries, "Lila" and "Boy 23". Made between 2012 and 2014.

Is a high end decor shop specialized in imports from india based in Rio de Janeiro, they get their name from the Indian Festival of Colours. When I was at Pé De Sonhos. Design studio, I got the chance to come up with and develop their branding. I went for an elegant approach with just a nod to Indian culture that drives the store by using a contemporary geometric typeface with generous spacing and a cross bar on top, as a subtle reference to the Devanagari writing system, which is connected on the top.
Bonde — Álvaro Franca

Bonde is a typeface in nine different widths. It is the result of a year long research project on the hand painted lettering used in Rio de Janeiro tramways between 1868 and 1966. The carioca engineers who lettered the original signs used compression and expansion of letters so that station names of all sizes would occupy the same horizontal space. Following the original designs, Bonde includes upper-case, true small caps and superscript. Thanks to Rodolfo Capeto, and Gustavo Ferreira.

A collection of the lettering work I made in the last couple of years. The work shown here was used for a broad range of applications, from company logos to animated film titles, publications, a tattoo and some concrete poetry. Letterings were made with calligraphy, hand drawn, vectors, or animated depending on the needs of each project. Many thanks to my wonderful clients for the opportunity to convey their many different values, ideas, people in each project using only letterforms.
