Bon Voyage: Amanda's African Expedition. Saturday, January 22, 2011. And days go by. The rest of the week I felt very satisfied about my work attempts. The women in my health care goup were excited to share what they learned while I was away, which means that my counterparts did their job! The elementary school director chose girls for the girls group I want to start to give girls a fun outlet, encourage them to stay in school and build confidence, while covering serious issues. Although the transition b...

Bon Voyage: Amanda's African Expedition: March 2011

http://amandasenegal.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html

Bon Voyage: Amanda's African Expedition. Friday, March 18, 2011. I am heading back from Dakar after a bad Alhum (mini-bus) dismount resulting in a small ligament tear or just a bad sprain. At first I was uber bummed at the change of plans. I was heading to see a friend of mine in her village and the last thing I had scheduled was an entire day of travel to Daker, but apparently that is what Allah had planned. Turned out Dakar is amazing this time of year! When my foot got a lot better and it turned out t...

Bon Voyage: Amanda's African Expedition. Friday, September 30, 2011. Ma and Pa do Senegal: Heart warmth. Hardship. Hilarity. The two weeks they were here my parents experiences the full scope of my life in Senegal. Dear Senegal both wrapped its loving arms around them, while jabbing its knee into their stomachs. Here’s the jist of what went on. It is funny how my parents gravitated towards the family members I am closest too. I don’t know if it’s because of my obvious love for them or bec...Not only did ...

Tuesday, March 20, 2012. Latrine Project is Finished! Well congrats the hard working mason Thierno from Kukuji, all those who dug their holes, and my village father Alpha Mamadou who carted the sand and gravel to each site; We completed the 15 latrines that I got the grant for a month ago. That’s 15 families who will now be able to stop pooping in the bush, which means less diarrhea for everyone! A jaraama Senegal!: COS: Close Of Service

http://ericlella.blogspot.com/2012/04/cos-close-of-service.html

Wednesday, April 18, 2012. COS: Close Of Service. About a week into April I said goodbye to my family and friends for two years, packed up my hut, gave my last gifts, handed my key to my Baba and I biked out of Pellel Kindessa. It was a sad experience, and the short ride to Dindefelo alone was bittersweet, I know I’ll go back again to visit sometime, I hope that it is sooner than later. Earlier that week when hiking out to the Dindefelo waterfall for one of the last times, I finally saw the chimpanzees!

Some of the beach at Kent, the fishing village and where we caught the boat to Banana Island. Our guesthouse's beach on Banana Island. The main area of the guesthouse, with a second floor sitting canopy.

Amanda's English Blog

Monday, December 6, 2010. So what did I really learn in English 102? I learned that Owl Purdue is the best place to go to help me cite my information. Remembering, all the concrete details are cited and if it is not my own words then I need to cite it. Overall I have learned a lot in English 102. Most important I learned that if it is not your own thought, I must cite it. In meeting my goals, I learned that when reading articles then stating your opinion and evaluating the author.
