After the destruction caused by an earthquake in 1931, the town was rebuilt in the popular art deco style of the time and the buildings are still there today. The town's airport is built on land reclaimed from the sea after the earthquake. The British Tobacco Company.

So our time here in Auckland is nearly at an end and we have bought ourselves a little van.
