American in Thailand: September 2011

http://american-in-thailand.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html

Follow me in my gap year abroad. Wednesday, September 7, 2011. I still encounter several occasions in which I am frustrated or unhappy due to lack of communication, but that will improve with time. I already have improved my Thai drastically in the past weeks. I came here knowing next to nothing, and now I am slowly starting to form simple sentences. This is a huge accomplishment considering how difficult the Thai language is! I'm also learning some Spanish- shoutout @Luis). สวัสดี :).

American in Thailand: I hate drama

http://american-in-thailand.blogspot.com/2011/11/i-hate-drama.html

Follow me in my gap year abroad. Thursday, November 17, 2011. Now to recap on everything that has been going on-. I spent many days alone at the resort, biking, exploring the village, attempting to order food at the local restaurant. Even though many days I could do what I "wanted," I looked at it as a test of my patience and maturity. When Phu Kradung arrived I was extremely happy- Rotary would help me resolve the problem, I would be climbing a mountain with all my friends, and life would be GOOD! Heari...

American in Thailand: November 2011

http://american-in-thailand.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html

Follow me in my gap year abroad. Wednesday, November 30, 2011. I also had the opportunity to talk with the district governor about my situation- he asked me if I was being fed. He asked me if I had a house to live in. I answered yes, and he concluded that everything was okay. Before leaving he said that after the kings birthday he will talk with me again. I'm hoping something can be done? Overall the trip was a nice break from my rural life in Ubon. Why am I moving? Where am I going? Is this Thai culture?

An American in Pune

An American in Pune. Friday, July 26, 2013. I originally started up this blog as the third in a series of blogs I have written since moving to India. The first was American-in-Calcutta, then American-in-Delhi, and now here at American-in-Pune. I have gotten a lot of pushback since posting my "We've Moved to Pune" post on American-in-Delhi, so I will be returning to posting on that blog only. To that extent, since moving to Pune, I've been working on a cool new e-commerce initiative called iPlace Connect.

Life - An American girl in Salamanca, Spain

Jueves, 22 de abril de 2010. Last post was on the 11th, but now I am back :). Let me start by saying that I thought I was alone out here. I got tired of writing personal thoughts to myself, left to drift in the floating wind. Then I got an email from a random person asking me why I haven't written in a while, and I knew I was not alone. I now suffer from reverse culture shock. I realized this when awaiting my sister in her "momma" mini van as I observed the different types of people entering and exit...

An American in Tunis

An American in Tunis. I came to Tunis to study Arabic at the Bourgiba Institute in Summer 2005. These two months are my first time abroad in the Arabic-speaking world. September 20, 2005. Hey, I'm back in the states now, and want to post some very final reflections. First, though, I want to point out that I got my film developed, and there are now new pictures on the entries that describe getting lost in the medina. Traveling into the sahara. Getting caught in the sandstorm. And Tunisian wedding customs.
