Banish Race Day Anxiety Once and for All. Posted by Tim Woodbury. My hair stands a bit on end as I push out a few last striders through the crisp morning air. I’ve done this same warmup before every race since I first started running. My muscles welcome the ritual, and they move through it with surprising ease even at this early hour. Someone takes the microphone. It’s time for the runners to enter the corrals. I shake out briefly, then make my way toward my pace group. Did that sign just say. Before I r...

How to Fuel for Performance (Even if You Hate “Health Food”). Posted by Tim Woodbury. 8220;We’re going on a diet! Was it really that time again already? 8220;I’m on a diet,” I tried to argue. “According to the dictionary, my diet is just the foods I eat, so…”. 8220;You know what I mean.”. Somehow my brilliant logic had failed to convince my wife that my diet was fine the way it was. 8220;Besides,” she countered, “isn’t it about time you planned your training diet? Coming up, I needed a plan. For another,...

Of Pace Prediction, Summer Heat, and Running with the Little People! Posted by Tim Woodbury. Victory can be yours with good pace prediction. As I came into the final turn, I knew my victory was assured. All around me, the roar of the crowd. Today was a good day to race. I pumped my arms as hard as I could through the final few yards. It Was. Glorious. A very good place to start. The month of May went by in a flash. Any day now I’d be. Preparing for my role as a Rhode Scholar. For the Amica Marathon.

A Simple Speed Workout for the Worst of LSD Addicts. Posted by Tim Woodbury. Hey, everyone. While I’m off training for the Amica Marathon. Doug of RockCreekRunner.com. Has volunteered to fill in for me this week. I hope you enjoy his guest post as much as I do. Why is Speed Work Important? Speed work is uncomfortable, as it should be. BLACK ASICS: October 2010
http://blackasics.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html
Running throughout southeastern New England and beyond . in my favorite black running shoes. Friday, October 29, 2010. Enjoying some trail mix. If people fall in love everyday, what happens when they do the opposite? Do they fall in hate? Yeah, that’s dumb, but if there was such a thing, I can tell you the first time I fell in hate - the first trail race I ever ran two years ago, the seventh annual Shawn M. Nassaney 5K. The answer is simple - I’m getting ready for the Barbados Marathon and I was lo...

BLACK ASICS: Knee deep in the hoopla

Running throughout southeastern New England and beyond . in my favorite black running shoes. Monday, October 18, 2010. Knee deep in the hoopla. Sometime last week, while I was aimlessly surfing the web during lunch, I noticed that a fellow runner hadn’t updated their blog since March, so I shot a quick e-mail to that person to see if they were alive and well. And just seconds after I sent it, it dawned on me - when was the last time I wrote anything on my blog? Talk about the pot calling the kettle black!

Providence Runaway: February 2013
http://providencerunaway.blogspot.com/2013_02_01_archive.html
Monday, February 25, 2013. Weekly Workouts: Feb 17-23. I had to postpone my Sunday long run because I had work this afternoon. Running nine miles and then going to work may work for some people, but I'm just too concerned with how my stomach will react to chance it. Thankfully, tomorrow is President's Day, so I'll just do it then. Instead of a run, I did the Level 1 workout in Jillian Michael's Shred it With Weights. She's just all about shredding, eh? Rest day. Walked to and from work 4 miles. Lazy day ...
