Coming to an end … | Competitive Cycling
https://competitivecycling.wordpress.com/2008/07/26/coming-to-an-end
Goals and dreams and hard work. Coming to an end …. I need some sleep! I’m off to Perisher Blue Ski Resort. In the Snowy Mountains down in Victoria tomorrow for a few days of skiing so I figured there was absolutely no point of throwing myself into a heavy training regime five days before the ski trip since all the gains would be ruined anyway. It’s a Corporate Ski Trip so I predict the Après Ski to be just as intense as the skiing itself. Mark and Donna cruising and chatting. And I’ve got very com...

Watts better? | Competitive Cycling
https://competitivecycling.wordpress.com/2008/07/18/watts-better
Goals and dreams and hard work. Alberto had gone to bed early and I felt too tired to spend another night in front of TV and watch the live coverage of the Tour so I followed closely behind. I hadn’t planned to get up this morning to go for a ride but I woke up at 4:15 AM (without alarm! 8221; “Wondering how much power I put out? 8221; “Wondering if I sat it up correctly? 8221; 4:30 AM. Twenty minutes to leave the house if I wanted to catch the Friday Ex Raisin Ride. More about what’s watt ». Zanne ̵...

Race Reports | Competitive Cycling

Goals and dreams and hard work. Ur de Sunshine Coast, June 2008. T was a great Tour. It was intense. It was stressful. But I could line up again right now and do it all over. A 25 km out and back Individual Time Trial course with a couple of turns in the first kilometer contested after sunset on a “street lights lit” course in Maroochydore. Very different to any time trial I had done before. Start area of the prologue. Fazit: I think I lost the seconds in the corners. Stage 1: Kenilworth 65 km. Because t...

Let’s try again | Competitive Cycling
https://competitivecycling.wordpress.com/2008/08/03/lets-try-again
Goals and dreams and hard work. Let’s try again. I went for a ride with Alberto this afternoon. It was beautiful weather, sunshine and blue skies, but very cold. Arm warmers, undershirt, knee warmers and gillet kind of cold. Quasi freezing for Brisbane! Easy spin to Sandgate and back, just short of 50 km. The reason I haven’t been back on my bike earlier? I was still recovering from the ski trip, or better the Après Ski. 2007 and none of the goals I set have been achieved. BIG SIGH! Where did the time go?

Stamina | Competitive Cycling
https://competitivecycling.wordpress.com/2008/07/14/stamina
Goals and dreams and hard work. The riders in the Tour de France for sure need stamina. But so do Australian viewers of the live coverage on SBS. Tonight’s stage will only start at 10:55 PM and it usually finishes around 1:30 AM. I’m looking forward to the rest day. Rest days are important as we all know. I need to catch up on some sleep! Shayne called today to let me know that he ordered the PowerTap and I’m excited like a six year old before first day of school. PowerTap, Brookfield and La Dolce Vita.

Snow Gums | Competitive Cycling
https://competitivecycling.wordpress.com/2008/07/31/snow-gums-2
Goals and dreams and hard work. The weird thing about skiing in Australia is that traditionally one doesn’t associate Australia with winter. Up until living in Australia I didn’t even know that Australia had snow. People usually link Australia with ochre coloured earth and gigantic monoliths in the middle of a barren continent, blistering hot sun, corrugated iron sheds and endless sheep stations. Well, I did! Seeing snow covered gum trees for the first time is surely a unique sight. The ski trip last yea...

Gear Talk | Competitive Cycling
https://competitivecycling.wordpress.com/gear-product-reviews-and-newest-gadgets
Goals and dreams and hard work. Product reviews, toys and newest gadgets – cyclists just love new stuff. Or is it just me? But I’m able to put together a very subjective nifty little product review. Now over a year and many races later it still excites me to put these wheels in. Changing the brake pads is sometimes a little annoying but really only takes five minutes and is not a big deal. However, I do envy Alberto sometimes as his Zipp wheels do not require carbon specific brake pads, which is ...I lov...
