This past weekend was my last here in Oviedo for a while and I was incredibly lucky with gorgeous weather, the festival “. And some quality time with great friends🙂. Is an annual festival to showcase all the traditions of Asturias. There were tents covering. The girls and I finally able to pull out the sundresses. A stop in the animal tents brought us closer to Emus, a kangaroo, birds, kittens, chickens, baby goats, baby raccoons, baby ducks… baby everything! Look at that cloudless sky! Create a free we...

This year in IES de Llanera, we’ve been having fun with projects and keeping up with the traditional American holidays:. First the students made collages of their personality, friends, family, etc. and then they presented them to the class. Some students really got into it! Then we celebrated Halloween with face painting and a costume contest. And then we made some turkeys for Thanskgiving. And finally, we made a super awesome advent calendar! Now I just need to think of a big idea for Christmas….

Notice the umbrellas.it's always raining here in Asturias. This past weekend, after arriving back to Oviedo from Arenas, I partook in the city’s annual sidra festival! It took place on Gascona Street, aka ‘. El Bulevar de la Sidra”. Boulevard of Sidra) because the street is lined with. Which is so delicious it has it’s own blog post from earlier this year). Ken and Lynn Were Here! Before we start, let me warn you this is a long one…I’ve got too many fun stories to tell about this week…. This past week I was lucky enough to enjoy the company of my parents (unfortunately my brother was not able to come due to work). I did my best to translate, translate, translate, and introduce my parents to some Asturian/Spanish culture. The week began with with a traditional Asturian dinner:. Fried pockets of melted cheese and ham), and. Parque de San Francisco. When the r...

At the end of my first year teaching English in Spain some friends and I decided to take a vacation to Greece. SNelson, a friend from college studied there and has ever since said amazing things about it, so I knew it was going to be wonderful🙂 What I didn’t expect was how incredibly hospitable and sweet the Grecian people were going to be! From the moment we arrived to the second I got off the plane in Madrid I felt like I belonged in that country, even though I only knew one word in Greek,. And a beau...

Con Las Cabras: gone
http://conlascabras.blogspot.com/2010/09/gone.html
An American guy living in Extremadura, Spain. Monday, September 27, 2010. The hostel we are staying has clean, nice rooms and is huge. Last night there was what sounded like a elementary school band practicing on one of the upper floors. They must be in town for a competition as there are buses in the parking lot. My camera is broken from the Gators game, so hopefully it shouldn't cost too much to fix! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). At the Top of the Roller Coaster. There was an error in this gadget.

An American guy living in Extremadura, Spain. Saturday, November 13, 2010. Spain: Cheap Groceries and Castles. Groceries are so cheap here in Spain. Today I went to the store and bought:. 1 bottle of Rose. 1 bottle of Tinto de Verano. 1 loaf of sliced whole grain bread. 1 package of parmesan cheese. 1 package of frozen french fries. 1 loaf of fresh bread. 1 dozen large eggs. 1 package of sliced sausage for sandwiches. And the grand total? This would cost well over $20 in california, I'm sure of it. I see...

An American guy living in Extremadura, Spain. Thursday, October 28, 2010. Halloween, Spanish Style. Tomorrow it's back to the grind, hopefully we will be paid soon because I'm getting cabin fever from staying in Don Benito for so long while the other auxiliars are jet-setting for Amsterdam and Barcelona seemingly every weekend. I'm jealous now and it sucks! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Halloween, Spanish Style. Last week I was talking to the one of the teachers. There was an error in this gadget.
Con Las Cabras: Madrid & Paris
http://conlascabras.blogspot.com/2010/12/madrid-paris.html
An American guy living in Extremadura, Spain. Monday, December 20, 2010. I quickly checked flight prices online and saw a flight for €138 and I jumped on it. Looking back it wasn't so much of a deal as I thought it was originally. In the past few days I have found flights to places like Turin, Mallorca, and Marrakech for under €30! We boarded the plane and the only concern on my mind was the three young children occupying the row across from me. If only I know that planets were about to collide. I went t...

An American guy living in Extremadura, Spain. Saturday, November 20, 2010. Spain: Endless Commercial Breaks and Consistent Glassware. Every day during siesta, the tv networks show the news and then a movie. The movies they show are actually pretty good. The other day I watched Timeline, a sci-fi flick. While I was watching the movie, a commercial break came on that lasted 15 minutes. Apparently this is normal in Spain, but very strange to me. It seemed endless. November 25, 2010 at 10:10 PM. Con Las Cabras: Carnaval de Cadiz!
http://conlascabras.blogspot.com/2011/03/carnaval-de-cadiz.html
An American guy living in Extremadura, Spain. Friday, March 11, 2011. In February we had two days for vacation for Carnaval. Since they were a Monday and a Tuesday, I asked my school for the other two days off. No sense in coming back to Don Benito for two days when I can instead make my vacation five days longer right? The group in our costumes, I was an old man. The scene in just one of Cadiz's plazas during Carnaval. An old church in El Puerto de Santa Maria. Plaza in El Puerto de Santa Maria. Hope to...

An American guy living in Extremadura, Spain. Friday, October 15, 2010. The students are all pretty enthusiastic and pretty much ask me the same questions every day. What is your favorite Spanish food? Do you know any famous people? Do you have a girlfriend? So far I've only done introductions, but tomorrow the real lessons will likely begin. I haven't been asked to plan lessons, only assist so it's pretty easy and fun to do. Well hasta luego for now! Labels: C.A. Gimnastico Don Benito. Teach, Learn, Run.

Just another WordPress.com weblog. The cueing systems (graphonic, syntacic and semantic) are a set of systems designed to build on each other to make comprehension possible. Graphonic is the foundation on which the syntactic, and eventually the semantic systems build. I chose to put the graphic on the front to draw attention to what the site is about. Then, to better organize the information I made a page for each step of the comprenhension process with strategies for each separate one.

Sunday, February 9, 2014. I think it might be time. This is for you guys! Monday, June 27, 2011. Fathers day was so much fun this year we were able to spend it together with Chads' Dad and family. For his gift this year I decided to finally do an idea that I had seen a couple of years ago on this blog. The kids and I had so much fun rounding up all of the root beers. It took us about a month to find them and we are still missing 5. Chad loved the gift. We have loved taste testing them every night. What k...
