Amy Goes Away: Summer vacation.
http://amygoesaway.blogspot.com/2013/02/summer-vacation.html
Places I've been, places I'm going, and places I need to go. Wednesday, February 6, 2013. Been having trouble recently deciding where my almost 13 year old daughter Claire and I should go this summer on vacation. For the past 4 or 5 summers we’ve taken a fairly exotic trip together. And I guess it’s become our thing. It all started on sort of a whim. We’d been doing the usual things, going to the Jersey or Delaware beaches, venturing as far as Nantucket one summer. Vacation spot as a kid. But at the last...
Amy Goes Away: Chopsticks in Paris.
http://amygoesaway.blogspot.com/2013/03/chopsticks-in-paris.html
Places I've been, places I'm going, and places I need to go. Sunday, March 10, 2013. I knew I was a traveler, a real solo traveler, after I ran away to Paris for the weekend. And I really did run away. Like a kid runs away from home, I ran away by myself to Paris. Nevertheless, I arrived in Paris having had little sleep but happy to be away. So happy to be away. Places I've been, places I'm going, and places I need to go. Thursday, February 21, 2013. I hear Umbria is nice in May. I woke up to an email from my Aunt, my mother’s sister who lives in New York City. She’s a writer. Not for a living, but she has been writing short stories and poetry for as long as I can remember. She sent me an email with a link to. And she just said, “Hey, I saw this in the classifieds of one of my writing magazines and thought of you.”. But then I clicked on a trip to Umbria and.
Amy Goes Away: On finding time and places to go.

Places I've been, places I'm going, and places I need to go. Wednesday, March 13, 2013. On finding time and places to go. Unlike many of the travel bloggers I have now started to read, I have to fit my trips into the vacation time given to me by my employer. I have coworkers who roll over unused time year to year and complain they can never take off or use it all. Can't even imagine that. I use every last day and wish for more. I am fortunate. 2013’s trip planning is working out really well so far. The p...
Amy Goes Away: It's not always Asia.

Places I've been, places I'm going, and places I need to go. Friday, March 8, 2013. It's not always Asia. I’m headed to Miami next week for something like my 10. A real traveler might ask why go back to the same place again and again when there’s a whole world of places to visit? And indeed, there are. I agree. But Miami meets all my needs for a trip so much closer to home than say, Yangon. I can get to Miami in a little more than two hours by plane from Philadelphia. I love the sexy, revealing clothes f...

Amy Goes Abroad | We wander for distraction, but we travel for fulfillment.
We wander for distraction, but we travel for fulfillment. One Year Later: Operation Andalucia. December 10, 2012. 8220;I haven’t been everywhere, but it’s on my list.” -Susan Sontag. Amy Goes Away
Places I've been, places I'm going, and places I need to go. Sunday, May 12, 2013. I had a dream. I got on the plane a few days ago in Philadelphia with high expectations. It was the beginning of making my dream come true. I dream that instead of sitting at a desk in a suburban office complex I write. I write a memoir, a heart warming, amusing and insightful memoir and I write it from my new home somewhere far away from suburbia, maybe Rome, possibly Bangkok, or even Shanghai. It was only a matter of tim...
Amy Goes Green
Thursday, August 25, 2011. I had to stop my castile soap and ACV shampoo method. A while back when the smell got to my ultra-sensitive first trimester nose. But now I'm happy to report that today I have gone back to the clean way and it smells wonderful! So I thought I'd revisit my method with a step-by-step. 1 Shampoo hair with a 1:1 ratio of castile soap (I use Dr. Bronner's) and water. 2 Rinse thoroughly with water. Your hair will feel tangly and messy, but don't worry. 4 Rinse thoroughly with water.

A walk finding treasures…. October 1, 2012. Even though we live in the city, there is plenty of nature around us to enjoy. And in Autumn, there’s even more ways to enjoy nature than just by talking walks. There were lots of pickings…. From left top, clockwise: rosehip, elderberries, poppy seed pods and some (not visible) Chinese lanters, and last but not least: sloe berries. It’s in the cupboard and gets a shake each day. This should be ready and lovely for Christmas! Recipe… ish, as I used Marmell...

Vivere. la risata. l'amore. (Live. Laugh. Love). Arrivederci l'America, ciao bell'Italia Goodbye America, hello beautiful Italy. Monday, November 24, 2008. Halloween obviously isn't a big celebration here, but we did see many places decked out for halloween which was awesome. Afterwards, we decided to get some Mexican food, where I had a delicious burrito. A nice ch...
Amy Goes Ninja on MS | The story about that one time MS had to sit down and shut up.
The story about that one time MS had to sit down and shut up. Amy Goes Ninja on MS. Kinda Like a Sunburn. Twenty minutes was about all it took to leave me lobster red. Please stop touching me! Stop asking me dumb questions that you could answer yourself! Let me check out of life until I feel better! If you’ve ever had a sunburn, you still don’t know what it is like to have MS, but I think that in some way you can appreciate the constant, nagging undercurrent of torture that MS is for so many. Amy's Australian Adventure
Monday, February 12, 2007. Well we've been home a month now, and I'm finally getting around to posting the last of the Oz pictures. I'm sorry it took me so long. We've had a rough time adjusting back to US time! A lot of these pictures are of the girl's baptism; and seeing as Amy was busy getting baptised and all, most of them are not taken with her camera. This first one is though - this is Amy before the baptism in her be-yoo-tiful new linen dress and hat, on the grounds outside the church. With Sharre...
