Blog & Workouts. I have been active all of my life. When my organized sports career came to an end, I focused on running as my passion. We had 2 small children and it was the easiest way to get my daily exercise fix. I got to the point where if I tried any other kind of exercise (walking, biking, intramural sports) I still felt that I needed to go out and run every day. As I have gotten older (and let’s hope wiser! She has taught us that the athlete in ALL of us is on the INSIDE not the outside.

Every week we try to make Mondays “meatless.” Coming up with creative meals using alternative protein sources is more challenging than you’d think… I mean, how many times can you eat eggs before losing your mind? Monday is also a swim day for me. I have been getting in 40 laps each Monday and Wednesday while I am still under doc’s orders to avoid running, lifting, and bootcamp workouts. Til next time….

Blog & Workouts. February 2, 2015. If you have 30 minutes and some dumbbells, you can do this workout! At home or at the gym, this one is great for overall fitness and burning calories. You will need a set of light/moderate weight dumbbells, one heavy dumbbell, and a mat for the ab/core circuit. Circuit #1 – Total body warm-up using light to moderate dumbbells (4 to 8 lbs). Blog & Workouts. November 19, 2014. Ok this is a Bootcamp Class staple. We do it once every 6 weeks or so (or when I haven’t had time to make up a new workout! It’s always great, and everyone loves to hate it. Several of my former clients do it on their own, and someone recently asked me to email it to her. Blog & Workouts. Souper Monday – Roasted Tomato Barley. February 22, 2016. I love to cook. I like quick meals, difficult and lengthy recipes, healthy food, and not-so-healthy food. I think it’s relaxing to chop and prep, and I totally enjoy planning and shopping each week. I especially like making soups, which is why I chose to do a Souper Monday veggie soup series this winter. Blog & Workouts. My personal “go to” workout. November 7, 2014. One circuit should take you 8 to 10 minutes. Move quickly, but not too quickly or you may lose good form. Wall sit – 60 seconds. DB squat to overhead press – 12 reps. Squat jump – 12 reps. Push-up – 12 reps. DB plank rows – 12 reps each arm (see pic to the left). 8211; 12 reps. Front lunges w/DB bicep curls – 12 reps alternating (count to 24). High knee jog – 30 seconds. Plank – 60 seconds. Tricep push-up (hands form triangle) – 12 reps.
