What’s this all about? | Skipping Dessert

8230; and taking the stairs. What’s this all about? What’s this all about? As you may (or may not) surmise, here at Skipping Dessert I write about my journey from an overfed cardiology-patient-in-waiting to a healthier, happier and (hopefully) longer life. This early post. Includes some background detail you may find helpful in understanding where I’m coming from and where I’m headed. Is a handy exposition of my eating manifesto, if I have such a thing. If you click through to the main page. Click in the...

And it lives in my kitchen. In a fun bit of irony, I found this while rooting around in the cabinets for actual Jif, which we did not have. My Lovely Wife swears it (the powdered stuff) does not suck, and is useful for things like smoothies. Which is why it lives here at Casa Ward. I read Vox.Com. If you follow it t...

Yeah, yeah, I know, I should have posted Friday. Didn’t work out that way. But I. Posted January 16, 2015 by hlward in Uncategorized. At the risk of irrational exuberance, I’m feeling pretty positive at this point. 283 this morning, or six pounds in two weeks. As I noted last week. The initial weigh-in was probably impacted by something I ate in the day or two prior, but still, six pounds in two weeks is solid. Enter your comment here.

Lord, how I hate to follow the pack. My natural inclination is to strike out in my own direction and do things my way. Yet here I am, starting my – let’s call it a “regimen” – the second day of the year, with everybody else. Let’s take this blank slate of a new year and get after it, what say you? 2 responses to this post. 2015 Weigh-In Numb...

8230; and taking the stairs. What’s this all about? The Tyranny of the CSA. Posted by hlward in Uncategorized. My Lovely Wife, who is much smarter than I am, signed us up for a CSA half- share. No, we’re not trying to resurrect the Confederacy. “CSA” stands for Community Supported Agriculture. Basically, we paid $X to the farm (in this case, to the fine folks at Swallowtail Farm. Over the summer, and so did a bunch of other people. The farm uses that money as working capital to, well,. Oh, don’t ge...

An American In Amman. I'm between Iraq and a hard place. King Abdullah II. Sorry for not posting. I’ve been busy. Because we spent the first day at the house relaxing, for Saturday we planned a day trip to Beaune, known as the “Capital of Burgundy Wines”. After our caffeine boost, we headed to the Parc de la Bouzaize. Century by King Louis XI.

An American in Australia. Things I wish I would have known before coming to Australia. Let’s Take A Moment…. June 5, 2010. For about two weeks I felt that I had writer’s block when writing these posts. How in the world could I have writer’s block on a blog that are my own thoughts about whatever I want?
