An american in montreal. September 25, 2012. In July, I took a two week trip home to Colorado. It was glorious! Here’s what I saw/did:. There were beautiful Aspens. An amazing birthday dinner for the brother at Table 6. Some red necking. (Everyone from Texas knows how to drive a tractor…). Some hiking with my mama. An amazing Vegan BBQ Sandwich. And lots and lots of other small glorious moments. Sigh. I just love Colorado! Tagged Book of Mormon. From New York, With Love. August 21, 2012. July 25, 2012.

The Norwood Nest: August 2013

Wednesday, August 28, 2013. Ten Ways I Know I'm a Mama. It's taken me a while grow into and even fully accept my role as "mama", and I'm still growing, for sure. However, I think I have arrived at a point where I can look at myself (and laugh at myself) daily when I realize, "Yep! Here are ten ways I know I'm a mama, interspersed with some cute pics taken lately! Anything to get us out of the house is great in my book. 7 Speaking of memorizing, I have memorized all of the 8 or so books that we read to Av...
The Norwood Nest: Ava's First Christmas
http://katienorwood.blogspot.com/2014/02/avas-first-christmas.html
Monday, February 24, 2014. I'm a little late on the posting, but Ava's first Christmas was wonderful! Warning: picture overload. We got to have a little Christmas at home. Then, we traveled to Texas and visited with both of our families. The week before Christmas, we had a little Christmas morning celebration at our house with presents, cinnamon rolls, and breakfast casserole, and it was a great morning! Ava loved her stacking cups and Mozart cube from Winnie and Papa C. OK, get off my chair now, Blazer!
The Norwood Nest: September 2012

Saturday, September 29, 2012. I've been a bad blogger. Sorry. More regular posts coming. promise.}. For now, here's a Baby N update. This little girl is making her presence known! I've also been craving salty stuff like turkey bacon and chips. I'm still loving BLTs for lunch, plenty of club soda, and fruit. Big meals aren't as appealing since I definitely get fuller faster. We still haven't decided, but we are getting closer. We will announce when we know! We don't have anything yet. Is that bad? First a...

Wednesday, February 27, 2013. Weight - 8 lbs. 13.5 oz (39th percentile). Head - 14 in (88th percentile). Height - 21.25 in (55th percentile). She's also beginning to make some sounds (besides screaming) and smile every once in a while! We've begun giving her a breast milk bottle every few days, and I was so worried it was going to be a battle. However, she took it like a champ and sucks down a bottle in no time whenever Brent gives her one. Finally, finally. Ava likes the swing! We were so bummed that sh...
The Norwood Nest: Ava's First Birthday
http://katienorwood.blogspot.com/2014/02/avas-first-birthday.html
Saturday, February 22, 2014. Ava's first birthday was one of my favorite days ever. In the months leading up to her birthday, I went Pinterest crazy planning an elaborate first birthday party with food, crafts, games, decorations, and 30 of our closest friends. And then. I came to my senses. Thankfully, I ditched the entire idea of having a $500 party for a small baby and decided to have a fun day with just us. I'm so glad we did! She wore her birthday crown, of course. After lunch, Ava enjoyed her gift ...

Thursday, July 18, 2013. Hands down, the best part about living in Iowa is our church. We were really nervous to move back here because we had an unsuccessful church search during our internship summer. I just did not want to give up the strong gospel teaching, close community, and immense growth I experienced at The Summit Church in Durham. Luckily, God knows what he's doing! Through friends, he led us to discover Sacred City Church. I know for sure I have my phone with me all the time, though! I spent ...

Friday, January 17, 2014. We have two very talented photographers in our church, and they were kind enough to take our Christmas card photos this year! Monday, February 24, 2014. Ava would like to tell you about her trip to Dallas to visit Winnie and Papa C last week. She insisted that we include a million pictures because she looks so cute in all of them. She's such a diva ;-)}. I'm going to Texas on an AIRPLANE? I need to fuel up with fistfuls of cheerios. Mama kept me busy with new toys, lots of snacks, and even an episode of Dora with my sweet new pink headphones. The nice people at American gave us the only empty seat on the plane! I rode on a swin...
The Norwood Nest: December 2013
http://katienorwood.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html
Thursday, December 5, 2013. One thing Iowa has that Texas does not: BASEMENTS. A basement is a beautiful thing, y'all! When we walked into our basement, we were amazed. So much space we've never had before! What would we do. The playroom is tucked back in this great little alcove of the basement, and it opens up into a wider space for her to run around. One of Ava's favorite parts of the playroom are these amazing play tunnels from IKEA. She crawls through there at least 10 times a day, and it is so cute!

An American In Montana
An American In Montana. A Funny Look At My Pursuit Of Muscles, Wisdom, Success And A Bunch Of Other Random Shit That Happens In Montana. Sunday, August 16, 2015. The Best Teacher Is An Armed And Deadly One! I often tell people that our education system is falling apart, especially in the urban areas. You see videos on the Internet of teachers being beaten, disrespected and the students out of control. They are not learning anything, they are just being "housed". Yet again, but this time in a prison.

An American in NYC
An American in NYC. Friday, 7 February 2014. Where Do Babies Come From? Jeremy had the flu recently. He was sick. Very sick. So sick that he didn't come out of the bedroom for a full weekend. I slept on the sofa. KZ was deeply concerned. Mommy, is Daddy healthy enough for sexual activity? Want to talk about one of the longest, slow motion seconds of my life. No," I replied. She didn't ask for more, nor did I volunteer more. She got a horrified look on her face and started to sob. I had no response to that.

An American In Panama. Saturday, August 28, 2010. 8220;I know, Dad,” the boy replies, smiling, “In fact…”. It was a medium-sized smallmouth bass. “Big enough to keep,” the boy’s father said, helping him remove it from the baited hook. “This will be some good eating tonight, Robbie” he concluded, plopping the unfortunate fish in a metal basket dangling from a rope in the water.
