An American In Panama. Saturday, August 28, 2010. 8220;I know, Dad,” the boy replies, smiling, “In fact…”. It was a medium-sized smallmouth bass. “Big enough to keep,” the boy’s father said, helping him remove it from the baited hook. “This will be some good eating tonight, Robbie” he concluded, plopping the unfortunate fish in a metal basket dangling from a rope in the water. An American In Panama: Public Transport

http://anamericaninpanama.blogspot.com/2010/07/public-transport.html

An American In Panama. Friday, July 2, 2010. Blog Post – Public Transportation. 8220;Ding Ding Ding Ding! The country of Panama could learn a thing or two about public transportation from Chicago, it seems. This is my opinion, at least, after ‘experiencing’ Panamanian public transit on several instances. My first encounter with public transportation in Panama came about a month ago when a group of coworkers and I planned to eat dinner at a local restaurant, Leños y Carbon. 8221; (where to? The taxi was o...

An American In Panama. Wednesday, April 14, 2010. Adventure and Book Lists. And, as always, as I begin to prepare myself for five months in Central America, a book list seemed undoubtedly necessary. Greeks and Romans Bearing Gifts: How the Ancients Inspired the Founding Fathers. Remarkable Creatures: Epic Adventures in the Search for the Origins of Species. By Sean B. Carroll. Will a cr...

http://anamericaninpanama.blogspot.com/2010/07/dos-cervezas-por-favor.html

An American In Panama. Wednesday, July 28, 2010. Dos cervezas, por favor. For many, remembering our ‘first beer’ typically revives horrible recollections of spitting, coughing, and possibly other more unpleasant bodily reactions. Following the inaugural. It is customary to question the sanity of such a beverage. Why would people continue to engulf such horridly bitter, foul-tasting liquid? I paid money for this? Mankind is able to smash an atom but still not make beer tasty? The first crops to be domesti...

This particular flower is in bloom all over the rainforest right now (June) and it attracts many butterflies. These butterflies have an amazing flurescnet red stripe running vertically down their wings.

An American in NYC

An American in NYC. Friday, 7 February 2014. Where Do Babies Come From? Jeremy had the flu recently. He was sick. Very sick. So sick that he didn't come out of the bedroom for a full weekend. She didn't ask for more, nor did I volunteer more. She got a horrified look on her face and started to sob. I had no response to that.
