Julie Tries ...: A New Front Door
http://julietries.blogspot.com/2013/07/a-new-front-door.html
A New Front Door. I always loved this door. It had great midcentury modern style and so perfectly fit with our little brick ranch house that was, naturally, built in the middle of the last century. Plus it was so old and warped that you could actually see light coming through from outside on three of the four sides. That, of course, also means cold air was escaping in the summer and warm air was coming in. Not cool. In other words, for this decidedly un-handy family, the door was beyond repair. I have to...

Julie Tries ...: Sweet Moments
http://julietries.blogspot.com/2013/03/sweet-moments.html
I have come to truly savor the moments when it is just the two of us. And his kisses. Oh, his sweet slobbery open-mouthed kisses. There is nothing better in this entire world. It took me a while to get used to being a mom, to feel comfortable with the rather heavy and all-consuming responsibility of caring for another human being. It took me a while to get past the point of overwhelmed, overtired, insecure. (OK, so maybe I'm not totally past it yet. But is a mother ever there? I love this Julie! Get Juli...

Julie Tries ...: Quinoa & Cheese
http://julietries.blogspot.com/2013/02/quinoa-cheese.html
When I say "comfort food," what do you think of? Mashed potatoes and meatloaf? Homemade macaroni and cheese? Well, that's what I think of. And apparently I've been in a comfort food kind of mood lately, because we had all three of those things in the past week. Only the macaroni and cheese didn't actually involve macaroni. Instead, it was with quinoa. Plus it provides a nice alternative to rice or pasta. Fortunately, you can see the lovelier version when you visit the recipe here. And when we ate leftove...

accelerate through the turn: carless.

Wednesday, August 5, 2009. No, not careless. Here are a few ways I can combat the convenience (read: unnecessary and expensive dependence). Of having a vehicle in Lander:. Pack a lunch when biking to work. thus, the hill won't piss me off when it's 90 degrees outside and I need to go home to get food. Wear a backpack and grocery shop at least twice a week, in smaller increments. Continue to bake bread at home, this translates to no squished backpack loaves, and less-expensive, tastier homemade bread.

accelerate through the turn: soil
http://allijack.blogspot.com/2009/07/soil.html
Wednesday, July 29, 2009. Whether people are conscious of it or not, they actually derive countenance and sustenance from the 'atmosphere' of the things they live in or with. They are rooted in them just as a plant is in the soil in which it is planted. 8211;Frank Lloyd Wright. Catalog arrived today, and of course I've found about 15 things that I'd love to have. Most of them would fit quite nicely in my yet-to-be solidified dream home. I really like the above quote from Frank, it's on page 22. Speak thi...

Who knows what will finally happen or where I will be sent, yet already I have given a great many things away, expecting to be told to pack nothing, except the prayers which, with this thirst, I am slowly learning." mary oliver. accelerate through the turn: upcoming attractions
http://allijack.blogspot.com/2009/07/upcoming-attractions.html
Wednesday, July 22, 2009. Pearson calls her Xiao. Shaow. Chao. I'm not convinced she likes it though. She doesn't wear her glasses as often as we'd like her to. Once, Elyssa was talking with her in the kitchen. Left, then came back shortly. Xiaoying then thought she was me. All us caucasian girls with brown hair all look the same at some point, I suppose. Anyway, I am thinking of Xiaoying because she is supposed to get back today. Or soonish at least. I don't remember. I am a bad roommate. NOLS currently...
