Every blanket I've made, my mother did the binding and finishing. and many many other projects just never got finished. The few that did reach the finish line were pretty sad. I think it's discontinued now, otherwise I'd buy a bunch more! I haven't actually sewn on the strap yet, it's held on with pins, haha. I love the little pocket inside. I hadn't thought to look there before, since she focuses mainly on quilting, but then I remembered seeing some handmade bags hanging last time I was in, so maybe-just-maybe she'd have the snaps I needed for those Buttercup bags! Tuesday, December 7, 2010. I recently learned to make self-binding baby blankets. I've made several now, and have recognized some mistakes I'd made initially that I've corrected now- minor things. Anyway, this is the first one I made a couple months ago for my friend's baby #2. :). I used fabric I'd had on hand for awhile, saving it for a sweet boy to whip up a blankie for. Monogrammed Baby Blanket with Mitered Corners. January 20, 2010. Last week I posted some pictures of a flannel baby blanket. I made for my cousin and her new baby. I’ve made a few of these now, and decided to write my first tutorial on the subject. They are a great gift and go together pretty quickly. Happy Sewing! 1 1/4 yards (45 inches) backing fabric (the polka dot). 1 yard (36 inches) front fabric (argyle). Optional 6″ square scrap for monogram. Monogram template (mine is just a plain piece of paper).
