What am I doing in this country?!?!: April 2007

http://www.annegoestorome.blogspot.com/2007_04_01_archive.html

Thursday, April 26, 2007. I thought it was most of the town, but nope. On Sunday we went to Herculaneum, which was also destroyed in 79 AD. It's more intact, but less of it is excavated. That was pretty neat too; even the top floors of some buildings were preserved. Yesterday was Liberation Day (when Italy was freed from Mussolini and the Nazis). I went to the Vatican for the Pope's audience in the morning. I actually saw him this time! Other good things: we got internet in the apartment yesterday! Satur...

What am I doing in this country?!?!: March 2007

http://www.annegoestorome.blogspot.com/2007_03_01_archive.html

Friday, March 30, 2007. So here's the first post about spring break. Vanessa and I went to Amsterdam on the 17th. We flew through Zurich on Swiss Air, and let me tell you, there's a reason they were voted the no. 1 airline in Europe- Swiss chocolate, cucumber sandwiches, and leather seats for everyone! Every morning. It's called Shelter City, and if you're ever in Amsterdam (and under 35 ish), it's a good place. Tuesday, March 27, 2007. Saturday, March 24, 2007. Thursday, March 15, 2007. Anyway, that's a...

What am I doing in this country?!?!: February 2007

http://www.annegoestorome.blogspot.com/2007_02_01_archive.html

Saturday, February 24, 2007. I think so). We were absolutely stoked when we found three pieces that matched together for one and three for another. Ok, so it doesnt sound that exciting, but when you're searching through boxes of hundreds of ancient pottery shards, it's pretty nifty when you find a few that fit together. So that was my Friday. It was cool. I also ate Chinese food and realized that China Garden delivers! Wednesday, February 21, 2007. Monday, February 19, 2007. Tuesday, February 13, 2007.

Rome Ramblings: 2/4/07 - 2/11/07

http://romeramblings2007.blogspot.com/2007_02_04_archive.html

A blog about what I'm doing in Rome. Hopefully I'll remember most of it and write it down accurately enough. After making this post I went to the Vatican with Anne and Vanessa. I'll be slowly posting the pictures, as posting pictures takes a good amount of time. Highlights of the vsit include going past John Paul's Tomb (no pictures allowed), seeing the Pieta (behind bulletproof glass), and going to mass at St. Peter's Basilica. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Away In Italy: Shopping Trip and Mental Glory

http://romesemesterspring2007.blogspot.com/2007/01/shopping-trip-and-mental-glory.html

Long time no blog. the stories of a girl doing her school work in Rome. Sunday, January 28, 2007. Shopping Trip and Mental Glory. All three frowned and shook their heads and each related a personal story about feeling as if they were about to puke and how they still felt that their stomachs were full of vodka. Sighing and shaking my head, I did not respond, obtained my food, and wandered back to the bus. He could have at least given me a nice salad or something” was her response. We only just met! 8220;I...

Away In Italy: Life Goes On, as does the Vatican

http://romesemesterspring2007.blogspot.com/2007/02/life-goes-on-as-does-vatican.html

Long time no blog. the stories of a girl doing her school work in Rome. Tuesday, February 6, 2007. Life Goes On, as does the Vatican. We exited the crypt and walked around the back of the basilica and entered from the front into a gargantuan space that contained so many artistic details that we stood in the door way for at least a minute attempting to decide which way to go first. I do have a few more things to talk about but I think this is enough for one post. Don’t want anyone to get too con...

Wednesday, March 28, 2007. So spring break was awesome! I went to france to visit my friend stef. FYI my pictures loaded backwards so i don't feel like redoing them cause it takes forever so i'll just talk about it backwards. When i was in Marseille i got to see Chateau D'If, but from far away cause they said it was too windy for the boat to go there! Ok So for the last day i was with Stef we were in Paris. Monday, February 26, 2007. Ok, so i went to visit my friend Christy in Copenhagen where she just took a job this past weekend. Let's just say Rome has MUCH better weather. I was so cold and wet the entire weekend. There were points where it was sleeting so hard it was painful, but we toughed it out and did the touristy things! Ok, so i went to Copenhagen this weekend to visit a friend and the sights from the window of the plane were awesome! The swiss alps and a sunset! Friday, February 16, 2007. Subscri...

http://candace-rome.blogspot.com/2007_01_01_archive.html

Wednesday, January 31, 2007. San Giovanni in Laterano. So we went to this church and Santa Maria Maggiore for my on site class. The inside of it is amazing as well as the front! They say the heads of Peter and Paul are inside the big thing in the middle, i can't figure out if they mean like their literal heads or not. it's got massive statues of the twelve apostles lining the center of the church. It's amazing inside overall. Monday, January 29, 2007. Wednesday, January 24, 2007. Monday, January 22, 2007.

Anne goes abroad

4 days of San Francisco. San Francisco was fantastic. I visited my adorable friend Wiebke, my former roommate during my stay in Providence, RI. In addition I met my fellow student Christian being at the last stop of his road trip through the USA. I also got the chance to get to know really interesting people and places showing on the pictures. I enjoyed every single moment I've had over there. Special thanks to Wiebke! Davis, the pleasant lovely town. Taken by my colleague Rolf. 4 days of San Francisco.

For the love of green!

For the love of green! A St Patrick’s Day Oath to Go Green. Lately I have been thinking about what I can do for St. Patrick’s Day this year. I ran a few ideas through my hyper vigilant brain and none of them really hit home, so to speak. Then finally late last night I decided I would ‘Go Green with Gusto’ this year! Here are a few things I have decided to do, have a quick peek and go green with me. 1 Plant a herb garden along with your flowering plants. 7 Collect rainwater to water your plants. 13 Try to...

A mother's response to a blogging family

A mother's response to a blogging family. Sunday 12 June 2011. The garden in June. Lots of stuff growing, and my new polytunnel. Sunday 20 March 2011. It's just one birthday after another at this time of the year. First comes Ian's, then Carolan's, mine, Patty's and my mother's. I know at least 2 people who have birthdays on the same day as myself. The final birthday of the "season" is Brian's, on 6th April. Of course we've all spent our money by then, so tough luck! Is this why they still had them?

Falling Awake

The eyes have it. I struggle about writing about personal things. I love when people allow themselves to be vulnerable to others, but I don't know if I should do it myself. When I can't be objective or calm, when I'm feeling emotional, like the depression I've struggled with after finding out I now have wet macular degeneration in both eyes - well, I don't know about letting all that out. Grateful for dreaded and hated shots in the eye. Sunday, August 24, 2014. John 3:5, the message. The Power of Color.
