One form of activism is called "hacktivism." Wikipedia. Defines hacktivism as "the use of computers and computer networks to promote political ends, chiefly free speech, human rights, and information ethics." The methods that hacktivists use are not always legal, but they are done to fight for a cause the hacker believes is in the public's best interest.
