Grooming the next generation of skiing – Annie Pokorny

https://anniespokorner.com/2016/01/06/grooming-the-next-generation-of-skiing

Livin' the dream. Writing it down. January 6, 2016 •. Grooming the next generation of skiing. This post was originally posted by the National Nordic Foundation. They are the men and women who have made art of their work, who obsess over tiny details, study weather patterns and snow chemistry. They sacrifice rest to the benefit of racers. They believe in their work and the growth of the sport. They think skiing is really cool. They are the groomers. Jim, catching a quick snooze between rounds on sprint day.

That moment you almost didn’t – Annie Pokorny

https://anniespokorner.com/2016/07/26/that-moment-you-almost-didnt

Livin' the dream. Writing it down. July 26, 2016 •. That moment you almost didn’t. So I’m on the trail. I have been on the trail, this not-trail of a trail, for over three hours now. My best bud and I picked a ridge to run, in the dead of the day and the deader heat of summer, and have committed to getting to the end of it. In fact, at a very young age, when presented with the chance to cross-country ski, I almost didn’t. So what is that? AP (Jul. 26, 2016 4:56). On Fear: Guest Blogger. You are commentin...

Support – Annie Pokorny

Livin' the dream. Writing it down. We all know that professional nordic skiing is incredibly lucrative. However, between all of the limo rides (discount Ubers) and banquet balls (leftover protein bars) a little support goes a long way. Hats off to these folks for helping make the dream sustainable. Ski Young: January 2015

http://www.skiyoung.com/2015_01_01_archive.html

Monday, January 12, 2015. You Can't Fake (Classic) Skiing. I remember being told a while ago by someone (I can't remember who) you can't fake classic skiing. At the time I got what he said. Classic skiing involves much more "stuff" I guess you could say, than skating. You have to mess around with kick wax to start, and sloppy technique means herringboning the uphills. So I would agree that you can't fake classic skiing. Some great classic skiing at the Rikert Eastern Cup. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
