a picture book mind: June 2014
http://www.apicturebookmind.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html
A picture book mind. Thursday, June 26. If you never fail, youll never learn. A lovely Fair Isle hat, I resumed Keynote. I'm about to finish the border of the body. Next are the sleeves. No I didn't sew them and yes, I wish I did). And Fethaland, oh Fethaland, oh how I wish I swatched before casting you on :-) It's kinda.big. My. Impatience for casting on this hat is inexcusable. Even worse, my haste for shrinking it can't be justified at all! Tuesday, June 17. From top to down:. Visit from a furry three...

A picture book mind. Monday, June 22. Knitting: Clara May Hat. Since it has been rather miserable weather here the past few days in Belgium, knitting a hat in the middle of June doesn't feel off-season anymore. It keeps on raining, sometimes the sun squeezes through thick grey clouds for a few minutes, and then you think: 'Oh lovely, I'm going to knit outside a bit! But when you've got your tea ready, your project bag and go back inside to fetch the printed pattern, the sun is gone. Labels: Clara May hat.
a picture book mind: April 2015
http://www.apicturebookmind.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
A picture book mind. Tuesday, April 21. Sock Challenge 8/12 - April. For my April socks I wanted something green (that represents Spring and grass) and I wanted a stitch pattern to go with it (something mossy - seed stitch like- but only for the front part of the sock). I love the color and I learned a few new things:. First time knitting my own pattern (very simple pattern must I admit) :-). First time knitting socks with something different than a fingering weight sock yarn. Name: Mali Traven Socks.
a picture book mind: December 2014

A picture book mind. Thursday, December 25. Sunday, December 21. Sock Challenge 4/12 - December. I even blocked them! I never did that before with socks and actually I don't think it's really necessary). Plain Vanilla Socks, knitted as a gift for a colleague at work. Friday, December 19. Spicy ginger cookies, homebaked by a very very good friend. Just to warm my heart and say thank you for being there in 2014, while I had the impression that I haven't been caring enough for her this year. Are you having ...
a picture book mind: July 2015
http://www.apicturebookmind.blogspot.com/2015_07_01_archive.html
A picture book mind. Monday, July 27. Sock Challenge 11/12 - July. It has been a race to get these socks finished on time. It has also been quite the challenge to knit a bit of Fair Isle in the round. I was so thrilled with the color combination and it knitted up beautifully. Then I tried them on. I could nearly get them over my heel! I had a feeling that this would happen, so I tried to keep my tension the same all the time, not too loose, not too tight. Anyone has tips on that matter? Saturday, July 4.

FO: Pebble Beach shawl - Woollen Wilderness
http://woollenwilderness.com/projects/fo-pebble-beach-shawl
FO: Pebble Beach shawl. Pattern: Pebble Beach Shawl. Yarn: Malabrigo Yarn Sock. Yay, this was such a quick and enjoyable knit! I’m on a bit of a Malabrigo sock binge and again this is one colourway I love. I wasn’t sure how it would knit up, but I love how this shawl is very colourful without being very colourful (does that even make sense? Still don’t think I would ever knit socks with it, seriously doubt it would be durable enough. 29 thoughts on “ FO: Pebble Beach shawl. Het lijkt wel of iedereen sjaa...
jaykayknits: Summer Lovin'
http://jaykayknits.blogspot.com/2015/07/summer-lovin.html
I'm going to be honest here. This is a very unpopular opinion, and I totally understand, but I feel the need to voice it anyway. I don't really like summer. I can assure you that it is terrible. And while it usually isn't hot here in comparison to many other places in the US, this summer we've already hit 90 multiple times. That's really, really hot here. Especially for June. To help cope with these sweaty months, I've really thrown myself into summer knits. First there was my Seaboard Tank. It looks gre...
Natural Dyeing: Beetroot in two different ways | The Easy Blues
https://theeasyblues.wordpress.com/2014/09/26/natural-dyeing-beetroot-in-two-different-ways
About The Easy Blues. Natural Dyeing: Beetroot in two different ways. For my first try I used about 500 g of fresh beetroots. I peeled and chopped them and then I boiled them in water for little under two hours (I needed to keep adding water because it was drying out). After that I sifted the dye and added a 13 g skein of white wool yarn that I had pre mordanted with alum (read about it here. I boiled the yarn for 1 hour in the dye, this is basically the same method I used when I dyed with lupine. If you...

http://stitchesandspoonfuls.com/2015/07/22/knitting-lately
Published July 22, 2015. I’m currently knitting a pair of lattice socks as a sample for my first show for my hand-dyed yarn. Since purple is my favourite colour, I just had to do them in this colourway. ( Rav link. By Alice Walker – heavy but poignant, as Walker does.). What have you been knitting lately? Linking up with KCCO. I love that you are getting some christmas projects done already. Love your socks. July 22, 2015. July 22, 2015. That is a lovely stack of dishcloths! July 22, 2015. FO: Striation Socks - Woollen Wilderness
http://woollenwilderness.com/projects/fo-striation-socks
Yay, my first FO of 2015! All that lovely snow we had yesterday is more of a brown mush today, so no excuses anymore for taking some FO pics. Yarn: Eden Cottage Yarns Tempo 4ply. Other than the whole cuff thingie I really loved this pattern. Loads of yarn overs (maybe these aren’t the best winter socks ever) and it was really engaging without being frustrating. This pattern was at some point part of Cookie A’s sock club, so you’ll find loads of purple versions on the project page. Great socks…love ...
Heatwave out, knitting in - Woollen Wilderness
http://woollenwilderness.com/projects/heatwave-out-knitting-in
Heatwave out, knitting in. Summer knitting for me is usually something that happens at a slower pace. Projects tend to be smaller and yarn less bulky. Heatwave knitting is nonexistent for me. Not a fibre in my being desires to touch my yarn when I’m quite literally sweating my ass off. After having 2 tropical weeks in Hawaii. I returned home to the usually rainy country that is the Netherlands to find temperatures even higher than on those islands in the Atlantic! Then there’s the Rye mittens. I just spe...
All of the blueish greenish greatness (with a splash of yellow) - Woollen Wilderness
http://woollenwilderness.com/projects/all-of-the-blueish-greenish-greatness-with-a-splash-of-yellow
All of the blueish greenish greatness (with a splash of yellow). Have you noticed something a little off about me lately? Well I certainly have. I just did the maths, and it has been over 6 months. Since I finished my last pair of socks. As a self proclaimed sock knitting addict (I officially have to hand in this title now) this is unacceptable. Sure, I fiddled around with some socks in the meantime, but there was no dedication, nothing got finished. Time for a change! In the Martian Got Moves (ha! Toe u...

sewing a summer skirt | little home by hand
https://littlehomebyhand.wordpress.com/2015/07/24/sewing-a-summer-skirt
Little home by hand. Sewing a summer skirt. Finding the right skirt is tricky – too short, too long, too sheer, too stiff, the list goes on and on. Discovering a perfect ready-to-wear skirt is like winning the jackpot for me. I like my skirts flowy but not frumpy (see my Pinterest board. For what I mean). Not suprisingly I decided that this summer I was going to make a few jersey skirts for myself. Jersey is such a great material to work with once you’ve gotten to know your serger. Back from Hawaii - Woollen Wilderness
http://woollenwilderness.com/uncategorized/back-from-hawaii
It’s been awhile hasn’t it? Last month I had a conference to attend in Honolulu (the life of a phd student can be really tough sometimes) and I figured I might as well have a little Hawaiian holiday if I’m flying to the other side of the planet anyway. Here’s a small impression of what I’ve been up to! Image heavy post of course}. 14 thoughts on “ Back from Hawaii. Oh my gosh, your trip looks like it was amazing, such beautiful photos! I’d love to go to hawaii one day. Jenny - prettycolumn (@riley jl).

It's waaaaay past time for another update! We've been busy here in snowy Colorado- mostly snuggling the new baby Lucy-Grace, celebrating birthdays and enjoying a visit from my Dad and Step-mom. A picture book mind. Wednesday, August 12. Now, if this doesn't count as a Yarn Along, I don't know anymore ;-). I just got home from working at our house (painting, washing windows, planning the flooring,.) and I found this great package on the doorstep! Besides yarn mail, book mail is very loved here too!
