A Pinch of this, A Smidgen of that

A Pinch of this, A Smidgen of that. Saturday, March 8, 2014. White Bean Chicken Chili. Recently, I was looking on Allrecipes and came across Chef John and I decided to give this recipe a try. Wow, the ancho chili powder and chipotle pepper powder gives it some great flavor and a bit of a kick. I am convinced this will be my go to White Bean Chicken Chili recipe for now on. Thanks Chef John! White Bean Chicken Chili. 1 teaspoon vegetable oil. 2 boneless, skinless chicken breast halves. 1 large onion, diced.

A Pinch of this, A Smidgen of that: May 2010

A Pinch of this, A Smidgen of that. Tuesday, May 18, 2010. Barefoot Bloggers - Spring Green Risotto. I have to say I have grown to love risotto. I love the creaminess of it. I like the idea of all the different ingredients you can put in it. I enjoy making risotto even though you have to stand there and babysit it. My boys don't really care for risotto. One will eat it one way and the other one definitely doesn't like lemon. Spring Green Risotto by Ina Garten. 1 1/2 tablespoons good olive oil. When the r...

A Pinch of this, A Smidgen of that. Tuesday, February 1, 2011. Spice Rubbed Chicken Fingers with Cilantro Dipping Sauce. This is the first of many South Beach Diet recipes I will be posting. The spices on the chicken has a mellow heat to it. As for the "dipping sauce," it dances around on your tongue with the heat from the serrano pepper and the bite from the cilantro. The parsley gives it a mellow cool fresh flaver. Does that make sense? Spice Rubbed Chicken Fingers with Cilantro Dipping Sauce. In a cup...

http://apinchofthisasmidgenofthat.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html

A Pinch of this, A Smidgen of that. Friday, January 20, 2012. I have found a use for my homemade Limoncello other than drinking it. lol. Now who wouldn't want a refreshing lemony cupcake. I found a recipe from Brown Eyed Baker. For Lemon-Limoncello cupcakes. I made these the other night and let's just say thankfully they only made a dozen. I loved them. One thing I would change in the recipe is the amount of lemon zest in the lemon curd. 1½ cups all-purpose flour. 1 teaspoon baking powder. Cut a hole int...

A Pinch of this, A Smidgen of that. Thursday, March 8, 2012. Homemade Valentine Chocolates and Fortune Cookies. This year I wanted to try my hand at making homemade chocolates for my three favorites guys. How hard could it be to melt chocolate, pour into molds, fill with ganache filling and seal. Oh boy, was I in for a rude awakening. It took me all day to make them. For the third flavor I decided to make a Mounds style filled chocolate. Mmmmm. 2 cups cold milk. 1 cup creamy peanut butter. In a medium bo...

Things That Keep Me Busy. Sunday, April 04, 2010. A Day at the Races. On Saturday Tim raced the 6 Hours of Warrior Creek up in Wilksboro, and I went along as pit crew. It was an absolutely beautiful day. I lounged around under the pop up tent - no sunburn Mom. He had a decent race for his first one of the season. As I was waiting for Tim to finish his laps, I read. I was able to start and finish. And the author on April 21. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Books I'm Reading or Are on My List. I am a librarian...

http://mholles.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html

Things That Keep Me Busy. Monday, July 04, 2011. It's been a great weekend - and it's not over yet. I finished reading two great books, made some cards, took a hike and enjoyed the outdoors, watched the Tour d'France, and there is still food, friends and fireworks yet to come. The first book I finished was Irene Nemirovsky's. All Our Worldly Goods: A Novel of Love Between the Wars. I was very glad to receive and ARC of this. I didn't like her. Things That Keep Me Busy: September 2010

http://mholles.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html

Things That Keep Me Busy. Monday, September 27, 2010. I've been gone for awhile, but I'm back now. I've got lots to share with you - some scrapbooking, some reading, and some new cats. The card base is a Kraft, layered with Pumpkin Pie, and Naturals Ivory cut with the Top Note die. Sue loved hummingbirds, so the Elements of Style SU stamp sent was perfect stamped in Soft Suede. I added a Bashful Blue scallop and satin ribbon for contrast and accent. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Freedom by Jonathan Franzen.

I Miss my grandmothers and all of the good times in the kitchen. The fun, the food, the family. Grandma Grace is my mother and yes she is still teaching all of us and her grandkids how to make all of the family favorites. I thought of going last year, but as we were running a 5k in the morning, and packing for our Disney adventure. In the afternoon, there wasn't enough time. Needless to say, we didn't make the chocolate tour. But today we did! The first few stops (we started at #2, since the first one was down the street from home!
