Un-pretentious thoughts on wine. Saturday, November 26, 2011. Review Callum Downs Limestone Hill Red Blend 2006. Well, It is quite late tonight and I have been up by myself watching a movie and decided to open a bottle of red to go with the film. I've chosen a bottle of Callum Downs Limestone Hill (vintage 2006). This is a ref blend of Shiraz, Cabernet Franc and Malbec. So, was my impulse buy worth it? An explanation on the back suggests that they were growing grapes for others and lost their grape contr...

Un-pretentious thoughts on wine. Friday, September 2, 2011. Review: Andrew Peace Wines Masterpeace Red Blend 2009. Big game tonight between the knights and the rabbits on tv. To enhance the evening, I've opened a bottle of Masterpeace Red Blend (2009 vintage) from the Andrew Peace Wines winery. I won this wine in an auction at Graysonline. This is what they had to say,. 30% Shiraz, 28% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Grenache, 20% Mataro. Would drink nicely with steak on the BBQ or complement a cheese platter.

Un-pretentious thoughts on wine. Tuesday, September 20, 2011. Review: Brokenwood Cricket Pitch Red Blend 2005. Tonight I came home from work to a lamb roast prepared by Mrs Portly. Mrs Portly, myself and our three children sat down to the most delightful dish of succulent lamb, crisp roast vege's and helpings of rich gravy. Mmmm. So what wine to choose to go with such a dlectable meal? I needed something special. Their web site makes for interesting reading. Visit them at, http:/ www.brokenwood&#...The w...
