We had tank maintenance today and even before changing the water out we had great water qualities with a pH of 7.6, 0 ammonia, and very low nitrate and nitrite levels. All the fish are still alive and seem lively enough. April 14, 2013 at 2:46 PM. Its good that your water quality has returned to normal did you do anything besides doing a water change to improve it? AqSci 9th grade tank 2012-2013. Friday, April 5, 2013. The fish have all been accounted for which means no deaths, which is good. Our pH is 7.4, .25 ammonia, and relatively small nitrate and nitrite levels so nothing to worry about there. We have noticed some algae on the side of the tank so we'd like to have a tank maintenance day to be able to take care of that and then some. April 12, 2013 at 2:24 PM. AqSci 9th grade tank 2012-2013. Thursday, March 28, 2013. We are starting off the new month with great water quality. It surprisingly hasn't fluctuated at all from the previous weeks post. We just put in some new water the other day so the tank is full and we make sure to put in a little chlorine. The water seems clean and the water quality tests seem to reassure that. The only times our numbers were out of whack was after Christmas because of the holiday feeder and then for a short period of time we had a little algae problem.
