The Urban Scout - Final year 'PGDip in Architecture' thesis project:: May 2009
http://the-urban-scout.blogspot.com/2009_05_01_archive.html
Monday, 25 May 2009. Main entrance with views through to courtyard beyond. Looking towards life skills classroom. I have already pinned up but thought that the presentation was lacking some views of the interior of the building - especially if I am going to talk about visual permeability. In my presentation - so have done a couple of quick shots to add to the portfolio before tomorrow's internal exam board. Monday, 18 May 2009. A slightly low quality image but it shows the general content and layout.

The Urban Scout - Final year 'PGDip in Architecture' thesis project:: A Blank Canvas
http://the-urban-scout.blogspot.com/2009/02/blank-canvas.html
Monday, 9 February 2009. Only the facade of Reginald Parade remains. The shops have been replaced. Iron railings to open up the site and allow views through to the park. All I have to do now is design a building. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). The aim of this thesis is to investigate whether the traditional scout movement is relevant in contemporary society - specifically in an urban environment? And if a new model is required what effect will it have on the facilities required and upon their design?

The Urban Scout - Final year 'PGDip in Architecture' thesis project:: Earthship Concept
http://the-urban-scout.blogspot.com/2009/04/earthship-concept.html
Friday, 3 April 2009. The conceptual approach to the design of the scheme is based upon the theory of Earthships. This small scale residential concept produces an autonomous building that provides its own energy, water and heating and manages its own waste disposal. One of the main techniques that the system uses is the regulation of internal temperatures by the use of. The aim is to take as many of the Earthship. Techniques as possible that are appropriate and adapt them to a larger scale public building.

define/redefine/propose: Tending the Tributaries 1 - Bus Station
http://hateitchangeit.blogspot.com/2008/10/tending-tributaries-1-bus-station.html
Revitalising the flow by tending the tributaries. Saturday, 25 October 2008. Tending the Tributaries 1 - Bus Station. The top image here shows the existing main routes from the bus station to Briaggte. The second image is an initial exploration of how these main flows could be re-directed and redefined to create new tributaries which enhance the experience of the journey. This is very crude, but I'll be working it up from this point into a more substantial diagram. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Revitalising the flow by tending the tributaries. Saturday, 18 October 2008. Two steps backwards . . Briggate can be viewed and defined in plan form but none of its architectural richness. Is reflected by this. Mapping patterns along the elevation leads to a greater understanding of the streets social character. Architectural merit, building use, negatives and positives and highlights the fall that occurs that might not be apparent when using just a plan to define the space. 18 October 2008 at 22:39.

The Urban Scout - Final year 'PGDip in Architecture' thesis project:: Spatial Hierarchy
http://the-urban-scout.blogspot.com/2009/02/spatial-hierarchy.html
Monday, 9 February 2009. Are an analysis of the spatial relationships between the different uses throughout the building. The theory here is to help with the hierarchical. Arrangement of the building. Certain rooms / uses interrelate and overlap with each other - if these interactions were to take on a physical manifestation it can be seen which use would be dominant and which subordinate, helping to develop an architectural language throughout the building.
