Listen to my podcast at SPIKES. Click on this image to listen to Spikes. Saturday, 18 September 2010. I don’t know where the ‘new media‘ path will lead in terms of our communication but I sincerely hope that it will contribute to the breaking down of barriers between humans that still seem to be prevalent across our world. Four weeks later again, and amidst quite a busy cross country season, I took part in the Honiton Marathon in Devon; the time came down again to 3hrs 10mins 30secs. My training carried ...

Listen to my podcast at SPIKES. Click on this image to listen to Spikes. Saturday, 28 August 2010. Much of the early part of my running life is linked to my time in the Royal Navy, I guess that that would be inevitable when the greater part of your professional career has been given over to military service. I presented myself to Admiralty Interview Board again in 1977 and this time they took a chance on me but I was advised that I would have to join the Upper Yardman unit at HMS Caledonia in Fife, Scotl...

Eoin's Journey: Current training

http://eobeara.blogspot.com/p/current-training.html

I started running in Feb 2010. This blog shows my running, cycling and general exercise related highs and lows along the way. So apart from running/cycling, which will be detailed on the main page, this page is to list my cross training. I go out on the bike when I can, but it could be twice a week or every two weeks, depends on time and weather (I'm a fair weather cyclist! I used to be a member of a "normal" gym, but found it boring and unmotivating (also full of posers), so I started CrossFit. When you...

I started running in Feb 2010. This blog shows my running, cycling and general exercise related highs and lows along the way. Tuesday, March 24, 2015. As I wrote in the previous post, I'm running a bit less right now. This is due to a few reasons:. Not entering many races. Having a family, full time job and college. Not being concerned with my run times as much. But I'm really enjoying it. That's what it's about for me. I have a race coming up this Sunday, in Dunboyne. Previously I was aiming for under 3...

I started running in Feb 2010. This blog shows my running, cycling and general exercise related highs and lows along the way. Thursday, December 18, 2014. I have had times recently when I was unable to run, due to injury or illness. Other times, I've been unable to cycle for various reasons (like not having a bike! At these times, you start to think, "How can I call myself a runner/cyclist if I can't run/cycle? When I started down that path, it got me thinking, why do I run races? But why do I run races?

I started running in Feb 2010. This blog shows my running, cycling and general exercise related highs and lows along the way. Thursday, October 16, 2014. A friend in the gym recently asked how my running was going, I replied, "Cycling is going great, thanks". I'm doing lots of ankle rehab, and at the last physio visit they got me to add in deadlifts. As I'm meant to be doing the rehab 6 days a week (! I managed to get a banged up, rusty barbell with some small plates for free! Dunboyne - March 2015!

I've been meaning to post for a while. Quick running update: I'm not. Yes, after injuring my tibialis posterior tendon near the end of the Tralee Marathon, it has yet to be a) given a timeline for recovery, b) a root cause or c) stop giving trouble, despite not running since April. I started running in Feb 2010. This blog shows my running, cycling and general exercise related highs and lows along the way. Thursday, September 18, 2014. As you may know by now, I had an MRI on my ankle in July and I was told that it didn't show anything. That's both good and bad. The good thing is that there's no real damage, the bad thing is that it makes it pretty difficult to pin down the issue and from that find a fix. As I'm fond of saying, time will tell. Eoin's Journey: Running, again

I started running in Feb 2010. This blog shows my running, cycling and general exercise related highs and lows along the way. Wednesday, November 19, 2014. That evening I couldn't wait and headed to the track to complete my 6 x 400m at 50% - well it was my first time running in six months. If you ever want to know which muscles are used for running, take six months off and then do intervals (possibly faster than you are supposed to.). The next couple of days my walking was interesting, ha ha. Some people...

A Running Perspective | The View is Better When Running

The View is Better When Running. Namedropping contd: my best girl. There were adults to consult- my mother, grandmothers, aunts- those that paid attention, about traditional names, common names, claimed names for children yet to come and so on. I wanted to be sure that my daughter’s name would be if not unique to her, then a tribute to a favored relative. When a new parent is naming their child, how much thought actually goes into the process? This is your sister Christina Micaela, I told my toddler JAP.

Thursday, October 23, 2014. I'm running about 7 miles a day at 7:20-7:00 miles. I'm feeling fit. i am in good shape, just different shape compared to when running was my job. I'm training for nothing. I might do a 5k road race next weekend with my high schoolers. Should be interesting seeing that the ONLY speed work is once a week (if that) with the high school kids. Creating a life that flows. Skip to primary content. Skip to secondary content. July 24, 2015. To forget one’s ancestors is to be a brook without a source, a tree without a root. – Chinese proverb. A Running Stitch

Thursday, October 25, 2012. I don’t really remember what made me start blogging when I started running 5 years ago, or why I stopped (besides I was too busy running). I am not even sure when my running goals started evolving. These things, well they happen naturally. You strive to get a little better than you were at that last 5k or marathon and things just progress. But somewhere, somewhere in there, I started to dream that I would qualify for the Boston marathon. The iron was manageable. And magical&#8...
