Sunday, January 25, 2009. 1 Earthquakes tend to happen in specific places. When talking about geologically they usually happen along plate boundaries. When talking about geographically they occur along the western coast of Americas and Eastern Asia coast. 2 I think they occur here because in these areas plates meet. At the areas where plates meet faults form. Faults are where tension in the Earth builds up and earthquakes happen. 3 This area is called the Ring of Fire. Ashleys 8th grade page.
