Six Happy Clammers: William Turns Five
http://sixhappyclammers.blogspot.com/2012/01/william-turns-five.html
Sunday, January 29, 2012. Immediately entranced, William said, "Let's go find a place to put him where he will be happy! His little friend said, "No, I want to go squish him." William very clearly said, "No, I don't want you to do that, he is just a lizard and we aren't supposed to hurt him. We have to take care of him. I don't want to hurt God's creatures." My mom, who was listening nearby, just beamed! He likes to say. How could you not? He is a big fan of Star Wars right now, thanks to Shawn. They...

Six Happy Clammers: February 2010
http://sixhappyclammers.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html
Saturday, February 13, 2010. In honor of the start of the Olympics, I made a double batch of Lindall Heyer's granola. The recipe is one from my mom's collection, but it originated in a 1970's newspaper. Lindall Heyer was a member of the US Olympic team in the 70s, and this is her recipe. It is very good. The only changes I made have been noted. 1/4 c canola oil (original called for 1/2 c veg oil, just seemed like too much for today's cooking). 1 T vanilla extract. 1 c sunflower seeds, raw unsalted.

Water in the River: May 2011
http://waterintheriver.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html
Tuesday, May 17, 2011. The first good news is this: Jason has a new job. This week is his third week in said job. We took a little mini-holiday to Williamsburg to transition ourselves right before he started and that was lovely. This is just Leif enjying one of his favorite pasttimes.watching ants. I actually haven't gained any weight yet in this pregnancy, only have lost, so that is nice, too :). That would mean I'd already be IN it) but we're still looking. We did find one we like, but we haven't m...

CRACKER ROSE COTTAGE: December 2008
http://crackerrosecottage.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html
The chronicle of years spent renovating a 1940s Florida Cracker home. Monday, December 29, 2008. A purple-flowering bromeliad specimen:. One of the many iguanas that roam Miami, this fellow is an unwelcome invasive species that is probably descended from a stowaway in a box of fruit from the Caribbean:. Here, Andrew is next to a silk floss tree (Chorisia speciosa). We managed not to feed or get eaten by any cocodrilos. And headed back to Glenn's for homemade eggplant parmigiana, my favorite Italian dish!

Water in the River: Toddler Activities
http://waterintheriver.blogspot.com/2014/02/toddler-activities.html
Friday, February 28, 2014. One of my Baby Prep tasks I wanted to accomplish was to set up a slew of toddler activities to keep the littles busy when I was busy nursing, etc. They had to be fresh to keep youngins interesting, so for a very long time i've been trolling Pinterest (💜! They also had to be easy-ish to assemble and clean up. I know me, and lots of hands on prep isn't going to happen at this juncture, so simplicity was key. The Rubberband Block makes me a little nervous with rubberbands snappin...

Six Happy Clammers: February 2011
http://sixhappyclammers.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html
Tuesday, February 15, 2011. I have been thinking for a lot of years on a project of great value to our family, as well as great expense. Sometimes it's just a passing thought, other times an intense study of the what ifs and the how-tos. Usually though, it's a middle of the road sort of dreamy thinking, as in "how amazing would it be for this to really happen? And then, just when you least expect it, the time has come. Um, no, thanks, we have plenty of those. So what has held my interest for so long?

CRACKER ROSE COTTAGE: Giving thanks. Goodbye, hair.
http://crackerrosecottage.blogspot.com/2010/11/giving-thanks-good-bye-hair.html
The chronicle of years spent renovating a 1940s Florida Cracker home. Monday, November 22, 2010. Giving thanks. Goodbye, hair. Relaxation, good food, and the company, love, and support of my husband and family. Talk about thankful. We saw the biggest living Bald Cypress tree in Florida, the Goethe Giant. Andrew is looking up at it. All 105 feet of it. It's about 10 feet in diameter, and around 900 years old! I was tired after the long hike, but being outdoors and the gorgeous day were just perfect. The o...
