In spite of Paul and I leaving. We were thrown out! The library project was a success thanks to all of your generous donations. We hoped to collect $1500 but with your help, we raised more than twice. That means that the Kenyan staff will be able to fill the library with all new, culturally relevant books, maps and other materials.

Our family and good friends back home have asked what they can do to help the people here. With some visitors from the. As often happens, we attracted a large crowd of curious children around us who yelled at us “goa picture” (take our picture). As we set up to take a photo we heard the familiar voice of our co-worker. Geoffrey Ochieng calling out to us. Ochieng told me the child’s father ha...

Out of America: An adventure in health care in rural Kenya. Subscribe to Out of America: An adventure in health care in rural Kenya by Email. Friday, September 12, 2008. The Birds and the Bees. We've read there are more than 1,200 bird species in the country. Most are year around inhabitants but many migrate here to escape the harsh winters in the northern parts of the world. We've been quite amazed by the many varieties that can be spotted without leaving the clinic compound. Here are just a...African F...

Out of America: An adventure in health care in rural Kenya. Subscribe to Out of America: An adventure in health care in rural Kenya by Email. Sunday, October 19, 2008. Don’t know if there could ever be a better time to be in. Than this election year. The Kenyans are excited, almost fixated, on our election and often stop us to talk about it. When we were in the Masai Mara recently we met a group of Masai men and women on holiday from Nairboi. With "irregular" i.e. corrupt election practices. By mid-Octob...

Jeeves Goes to Kenya: Wedding

http://jeevanmd.blogspot.com/2008/04/wedding.html

Jeeves Goes to Kenya. Tuesday, April 22, 2008. This event happened a few weeks ago. Nancy had invited me to her youngest sister’s wedding. Nancy and her family were going to take a cockroach at 6 am on the wedding day to get there. Joseph, who was also invited, and I decided against that ridiculously early departure. We figured we would take a transport from Otho and walk there at a more humane time of day. We got to Otho around 9:30 am. It’s about an hour walk. We got there around 11:30 or so. The groom...

Jeeves Goes to Kenya: April 2008

http://jeevanmd.blogspot.com/2008_04_01_archive.html

Jeeves Goes to Kenya. Wednesday, April 30, 2008. Rain, Rain Go Away. We are in the middle of the rainy season here. And what a season it is. Every afternoon we get rains that range from a slight drizzle to a torrential down pour. The entire compound is a mess of mud, soggy grass approaching the level of swamps, slippery sidewalks of slime, and bovine urine run-off. It’s a total mess. Or at least their furniture was. Their entire rooms were flooded with water. And that’s on a good day. The other day when ...

July 25, 2012. I’ve been gone for 2 months. I’m so sorry that I haven’t been keeping my blog updated. The internet here isn’t too great and it takes a very long time to load anything… But here is a little update. We have been visiting different churches every week and I’m getting to meet a lot of people. Everyone is so friendly and loving :). So please pray that God leads us as we make the trip to Manaus. I’ll be posting lots of pictures as soon as I can! Much love, Olivia. June 20, 2012. June 20, 2012.

A year of running

A year of running. Over the next 12 months I will be training for the New York Marathon. I have never been a runner but it was an opportunity I could not turn down - not only do I love a challenge but it will support Right To Play. The views are mine and do not represent Right To Play. Sunday, December 4, 2011. During my group run on November 17. I was pushed pretty hard. I left the gym a but early and ran to the interval start point with Richard - one of the people who I can almost keep up with! The 6pm...

A Year in Kampala

A Year in Kampala. Medical “Evacuation”. Unfortunately, while traveling to Lake Mburo in February, I became quite sick with a fever and mysterious skin infection. It came on suddenly during the first night of my trip. First, I had a low-grade fever, and by Saturday evening, I was feeling pretty terrible. Realizing that something was not right, I decided to return to Kampala early the following day. View of Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi. View of Room in Hospital. A Year in Korea

A Year in Korea. Wednesday, August 22, 2007. Well, this is Melbourne, part of the central business district, at night, obviously. The river is the Yarra river. I'm not quite on the coast, but it isn't far away. This is the beach at St. kilda, a short tram ride away. I went here for the day with Michael, a german guy from my hostel. The water was freezing and it was overcast for most of the day, so it reminded me of home, in a nice way. And this is my new Canon! Sunday, August 19, 2007. 2 Salsa - the clas...

A Year in Lancashire

A Year in Lancashire. Thursday, 16 August 2012. Malcolm has just ordered a mountain bike and lycra from Amazon. Looks like we're definitely staying! S Web is my only point of reference for an agricultural show. I didn't realise they still take place. And with such sincerity! You've probably been there done that, but indulge me for a moment as I expose my ignorance and take you into the poultry marquee. Here my powers of discernment fail me.
