Something Sweet: Devil's Food Cupcakes (Christmas style)
http://bakesweet.blogspot.com/2009/12/devils-food-cupcakes-christmas-style.html
Because baking is clearly different from cooking. Devil's Food Cupcakes (Christmas style). I hope everyone reading had a fantabulous holiday, despite any mad rushing around or last-minute baking. We had a relatively quiet Christmas. My aunt and uncle came over. Food was delicious, loud conversations ensued. National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. Was on all day on AMC. No matter how many times I see it, when the squirrel jumps out, I'm busting up with laughter. 189; cup boiling water. 188; cup milk. In a ...
Something Sweet: Pumpkin Snickerdoodles
http://bakesweet.blogspot.com/2009/11/pumpkin-snickerdoodles.html
Because baking is clearly different from cooking. Alright, everyone. Try not to fall over - I'm actually updating. ;). But I'm doing good tonight. Baked yesterday, photographed a little over an hour ago, and here I am. (That and I told myself I couldn't read anymore of the book until I post this. Motivation, you come from the strangest places.). I found this over at Recipe Girl. And instantly fell in love. Pumpkin? In blissful union with snickerdoodles? 1 cup butter, at room temperature. In a medium bowl...

Because baking is clearly different from cooking. SHF : Rustic Apple-Cranberry Tart. It feels like it's been ages since I've actually been on time enough to do a Sugar High Friday. Event Usually it can be summed up to bad timing - or, well, forgetfulness. *shrug*. This month's theme is the holidays is hosted by Cherrapeno. A blog I've just recently discovered and drooled over. ;). 1 9-inch pie crust (store-bought or homemade). 21 ounces apple pie filling. 1 cup cranberries, fresh or frozen, chopped.
Something Sweet: Chocolate Agave Cake
http://bakesweet.blogspot.com/2009/11/chocolate-agave-cake.html
Because baking is clearly different from cooking. I hope all of you had a great Thanksgiving. :) Mine was good. Except for the whole "working the next day at an ungodly hour" part. The joys of working in retail, right? Something Sweet: November 2009
http://bakesweet.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html
Because baking is clearly different from cooking. If I remember correctly, this was one of the first things I made here at home after I had started baking. Possibly January 2004? That was the last time I had come home from CA in the winter before moving back here. Both my parents loved it, as did my cousin and her husband. And now this is the second year in a row where it's been requested at Thanksgiving. *shrug* Works for me! 189; cup quick-cooking oats. 189; cup brown sugar. 189; cup butter, softened.

Polar Bear in the Kitchen: Cozy Comfort Sunday
http://polarbearinthekitchen.blogspot.com/2009/03/cozy-comfort-sunday.html
Monday, March 16, 2009. A week ago I tried my first ever pie crust. Remember this. The recipe makes enough for two single crust pies. I had one left so I attempted to make another pie. Big Bear asked for an apple pie. That’s good, I don’t like apple cooked anything except applesauce so I won’t be tempted to eat it. I bought lots of apples (six pounds) on Saturday. Yesterday I pulled out the dough all ready to start rolling. Ha! I pulled out my faithful. King Arthur Baking Companion Cookbook. OMG that app...

Polar Bear in the Kitchen: Orzo and Spinach
http://polarbearinthekitchen.blogspot.com/2009/04/orzo-and-spinach.html
Thursday, April 9, 2009. Tuesday night Big Bear had a couple of late meetings. I was originally supposed to go to dinner with a friend, but she got the nasty virus that is going around. At first I thought I would go home and have a bowl of cereal or something simple. Right before I left school I was scanning through some of my blog roll and came across a recipe. That caught my eye on Ezra. A new favorite blog. I had all of the ingredients so I thought I would give this Orzo with Spinach and Feta.

The end of this months challenge is quickly approaching (you have until Sunday) and let me tell you there are some amazingly delicious entries. I’ve been down and out with the flu so my plans to start baking last weekend were crushed, but I will be stocking up with lots of cinnamon because my baking frenzy starts this weekend. Now, I just need to figure out what next months ingredient should be. Any suggestions? 15 Comments ». However, I...

Polar Bear in the Kitchen: Happy St. Patrick's Day!
http://polarbearinthekitchen.blogspot.com/2009/03/happy-st-patricks-day.html
Tuesday, March 17, 2009. Happy St. Patrick's Day! Since I don't make or eat corn beef and sauerkraut I was wondering what I could cook or bake for St. Patrick's Day. After a little search I found St. Pat's Pistachio Cookies. Well, cookies are my thing so I thought I would give them a try. If you do make them I would offer one suggestion. If you can't find unsalted pistachio nuts cut the amount of salt in half or leave it out all together. I wish I would have. Happy St. Patrick's Day! Posted by Polar Bear.

Polar Bear in the Kitchen: March Referral Baking
http://polarbearinthekitchen.blogspot.com/2009/03/march-referral-baking.html
Wednesday, March 4, 2009. This month's recipe for my 'Referral Baking' spoke to me as soon as I saw it. It has been said that. It is darkest right before the dawn'. It is just about to be dawn for several of my friends: Pug Mama. So when I saw the name of this recipe I thought it would be fun. Then after the sad number of days referred I thought that the chocolate overload was most definitely needed. :) So for the March Referral Baking I made Midnights. You can see the recipe HERE. Polar Bear in the Kitchen: Banana Surprise Cupcakes
http://polarbearinthekitchen.blogspot.com/2009/03/banana-surprise-cupcakes.html
Monday, March 23, 2009. The other day I noticed that my banana bread stash as disappearing at a faster rate then it should be. When I asked Big Bear about it he said that he has been taking a couple of pieces to work every day for a snack. This is from the man who used to always turn his nose up at banana bread. Don’t get me wrong, I am VERY happy about it. I found a banana cupcake recipe and fumbled along from there. Here is my finished cupcake:. Even though I am not wild about the Nutella, the cake par...

Polar Bear in the Kitchen: Guacamole
http://polarbearinthekitchen.blogspot.com/2009/03/guacamole.html
Monday, March 23, 2009. I know I've posted this recipe before, but I wanted to get it on the food blog. At the market the other day they had a HUGE display of avacados. They looked wonderful so of course I couldn't pass them up without grabbing a bunch to make some guacamole. This is what Big Bear and I had for dinner last night. Hopefully there will be some for tonight too if Big Bear doesn't take it all for lunch he said he wouldn't. 4 ripe avocados, chopped. 2 limes squeeze the juice over the avacados.

Smells Like Dessert: The Perfect Brownie. There, I Said It.
http://smellslikedessert.blogspot.com/2008/07/perfect-brownie-there-i-said-it.html
Monday, July 21, 2008. The Perfect Brownie. There, I Said It. I have fond memories of childhood baking. One of the most fun moments in the kitchen was with my sister, making brownies from a cookbook we had just gotten called Kids Cooking: A Slightly Messy Manual. By Klutz (as a side note, one of my friends swears by the chocolate chip cookie recipe in there, but we all know I have my favorite. What joy, what rapture! Okay, enough of this technical talk. Make these brownies and brace yourself because ...

The Wooden Spoon | A Vegetarian Hungarian Cooking & Baking Blog
A Vegetarian Hungarian Cooking and Baking Blog. Grandma Elek’s Cheddar Biscuits. April 12, 2012. Hello and happy spring! It has been almost two months since my last post, and truly two months since my last recipe post. I have been preoccupied with a big project these last two months: starting my Etsy business, Odudare! Cutting shortening into flour mixture with pastry cutter. The dough after kneading. There's that wooden spoon again! I love biscuits, and a new breakfast place near our house makes awesome...
