Monday, November 21, 2011. THE best cinnamon chocolate chip cookies. There are tons of recipes out there for the best chocolate chip cookies and I don't claim to have tried them all, but the ones that I have, were always missing one thing or another. The one thing that they all had in common, was that they WOULD NOT FLATTEN! The pictures would show so, but not the result! It's important that the cookies are flat. NOT by me flattening them before baking, no no! From original recipe of The Silver Palate).

Wednesday, February 22, 2012. Sticky rice with Chinese sausage, pork floss and fried onions. There are people in our lives that even though are not close to us, stay in our mind forever. They are part of our everyday life for a while, and then are gone, but we will always remember them because without them, that part of our lives wouldn't be the same. Who wants sticky rice? I tried everything she made, but my favorite was always the combination of pandan sticky rice, slathered with mung bean paste, toppe...

Because of course, we all have enough pasta sauce recipes in our closet! But hear me out! 1-You won't have to keep going to check up on it. 2-There is a twist that will give your pasta sauce a whole new depth. 3-No cleanup to do for splatters on the counter! Seriously, if you have a crockpot, DO IT! So, what's the twist? Ha-ha, very funny, it's not squirrel meat! 2 cans of...

Laquo; Whimsical Spring Cake: Luscious Lemon Layer Cake with Passion Fruit Buttercream. April Daring Bakers Challenge – Cheesecake Pops! It’s been a while since my last post, I know. I actually have been quite busy baking for a recent dessert party, so you’ll be seeing some non-cake posts for a while. First up is a classic fruit tart. Despite my recent propensities to tinker with recipes, there is little I would want to mess with when it comes to this dessert. 1/4 stick (2 tblsp) butter. Beat butter on l...

Laquo; Asian Flavors, American Paradox. Coconut cheesecake. cashew ginger crust. pearls. A Lighter Note…. While this cake was intended for an Easter gathering, I wanted to avoid using any symbols specifically associated with the holiday. It was also for a family gathering, for which I tend to be more experimental – to their benefit or not – because they’ve tried it all, because I know they will still love me and because they will be brutally honest in their critique. I also flavored a creme brulee insert...

Baking at 4000'
Baking at 4000'. Cooking at high elevations requires diligence and testing. Skip to primary content. Skip to secondary content. October 29, 2015. To begin, in your mixing bowl, add 1 tablespoon of yeast, 1/2 cup of water, and 1 tablespoon of sugar. Your going to let that sit until it blooms. It’s also called proofing the yeast. Making sure it’s active. (I don’t necessarily follow their rules.). I checked the bowl about 10 minutes later, after I finished gathering the other ingredients for the rolls. ...

Baking at Huckleberries
Friday, September 4, 2009. Peanut Butter Banana Muffins. As far as I'm concerned, the only way to eat a banana is with PEANUT BUTTER. Spoonful of peanut butter plus a bite of banana. Yum. So as I started to make banana muffins this morning it occurred to me that a dollop of peanut butter right in the middle could only make the muffins better. Peanut Butter Banana Muffins. 1 c all purpose flour. 1 c quick cooking oats - you could use old-fashioned, but I'd use a little less. 1 tsp baking powder. Mix just ...

Sunday, October 5, 2014. Gluten-free biryani and carrot fritters. You know when you have leftovers and it's just a cup of this and a cup of that? Things that you can't exactly serve to anyone but yourself, standing eating at the kitchen counter? All The. Time. This week, my friend's wife sent me a tupperware of chicken biryani. And I liked it so so SO MUCH that I ate just a few spoonful at a time until I realized that I didn't have enough left for a meal. Desperate, I raided the fridge and BOOM! At least...

Baking at Tiffany's. Healthy-ish Dark Chocolate Brownies}. A new post at last! I meant to post the recipe for these brownies for Valentine’s Day–that’s right, a month ago–but kept getting sidetracked somehow. Days would go by, then weeks, and here we are now in mid-March (on Pi Day! How did that happen? Of course, now that tax season is upon us, instead of using my free Saturday afternoon to gather all my paperwork to file my taxes, I’ve decided to finally write up a blog post :). 3/4 t sea salt.
