Baking With Altitude: August 2010
http://bakingwithaltitude.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html
A sea level baker. 7,000 feet up. Sunday, August 29, 2010. Pound Cake, Take I. The first cake I ever baked at 7,000 feet was a pound cake that my grandmother used to make. Simple. Basic. Disastrous. It was an overly sweet, heavy mess. I never baked another one ‘til now. This morning, I decided to begin my adventures in high altitude baking by returning to the pound cake. 1 pound butter, softened. 6 eggs, room temperature. 4 cups cake flour. 190; cups milk. 1 t almond extract. Add eggs one at a time.

Baking With Altitude: Pound Cake in the Tropics

A sea level baker. 7,000 feet up. Thursday, September 9, 2010. Pound Cake in the Tropics. I am back down at sea level for the next few weeks, visiting family in Florida. Since I’m here, I think I’ll try to make a few recipes here that can function as kind of “control” recipes in this experimentation process. We’re all about the strict Scientific Method around here. Sunday, April 29, 2012. Japanese Themed Birthday Party. Our daughter turned seven yesterday. She loves all things Japanese so we decided to have a party honoring her passion. Buttercream Buzz: January 2011
http://buttercreambuzz.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html
Friday, January 28, 2011. As far as Joan's is concerned, I am moderately addicted to their meringue cookies. Particularly the ones with the chocolate and coconut. And in the summer, I have been known to consume a cream puff. or two. Whenever I turn onto Third Street, I turn into a junkie. Am I hungry? Do I have time to stop? Where should I go? One day, I even followed Jeff Goldbloom and his girlfriend as they held hands, walking down the street. Would they stop at Joan's? Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
