Grooming of the Trail ended for this winter- the last time tracks were set on the Banadad was April 6. Two days later skier, marathon runner and retired teacher Judy Ross was the last skier to travel along the groomed trail. Judy is a marathon runner, retired teacher and consistent skier on the trail. The BWCA's Longest Tracked Ski Trail. Gunflint Trail — Grand Marais, Minnesota. BWCA Ski Trail Maintenance Weekends. Join the "Banadad Beavers" for a Work Weekend clearing the summer's accumulation of brush and downed trees and bridge replacement projects along the Banadad Ski Trail. Most of the Banadad is located within the BWCAW, where the use of power equipment for maintenance is prohibited. As a result, just to get the trail open for skiing each year requires some 600-650 hours of hand labor.
