Our gardens, located in the foothills of Western Maine, are in USDA zone 5a receiving harsh winter winds from the direction of Mt. Washington in New Hampshire. We have grown daylilies since the 1980's and presently grow 1200 registered cultivars. Our hybridizing program began in 2007. Rex Beisel and Craig Cote.

Every summer CSA season starts again and inevitably my mom has tons of vegetables that need to be cooked. this led to the creation of a dish, which is more like a blueprint, that has become a tradition in the huizenga family – it’s called beans ‘n ‘greens ‘n rice.
