Canyonwren Travels: 2014/09
http://canyonwren.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Our Travels and Adventures Together. Wednesday, September 24, 2014. Fall Cast-n-Blast with Sting. The annual Cast and Blast took place last weekend. It was way more cast than blast. Chukkar were few and far between for the second year in a row. Now bass were another story. We fished slow and a bit deep for those slippery crawdad eaters and were able to pull in a nice dinner's worth. My Steelhead, just before release. Paul Harris and Mike Fuhrman running Snow Hole Rapid. We floated from the launch down to...

Our Travels and Adventures Together. Monday, December 29, 2014. We were sitting around the last night before Holly, Ryan and the kids had to pack up and leave when Ryan said "Let's have a selfie contest! Ryan says a lot of stuff through out the day and like most of what he says, this fell on deaf ears and we ignored it.( LOL) No one did any selfies that evening and our guests packed up and headed back to the cold and snow of Idaho. Content not for child viewing! Posted by Dean Bennett. We took another tr...

Canyonwren Travels: 2014/10
http://canyonwren.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
Our Travels and Adventures Together. Thursday, October 30, 2014. Ofrenda at the library. To say that the town was getting excited today was a bit of an understatement. The children were all decked out in their Day of the Dead costumes and were hustling about the main square getting ready for the weekend. We walked around and did a bit of shopping. Young boy in his best Day of Dead costume. Stainless steel wires with the sun reflecting off them. Ofrenda at the entrance to the park. Ladies of the Dead.

The Old Koot: December 2009
http://theoldkoot.blogspot.com/2009/12
A Coeur d'Alene Native Spills His Guts. Friday, December 25, 2009. Can you imagine how much that stuff would be worth on eBay now? Tuesday, December 22, 2009. Last Friday marked the 34th anniversary of Playland Pier burning down. I wrote about the history of Playland Pier in this blog at FYI North Idaho. But had more memories of what a great place it was as a kid. Like so much stuff we all had when we were kids, I curse myself for not keeping all those cards, like James Dean. Sheesh. Uncle Ray was 20 yea...

The Old Koot: November 2012
http://theoldkoot.blogspot.com/2012/11
A Coeur d'Alene Native Spills His Guts. Tuesday, November 13, 2012. The Return of the Old Koot. I started this blog a couple years ago. It was part autobiography and part (illustrated) history lesson, but it turned into part political rant. I was so irritated by the. McEuen issue (still don't agree with either side) I went off with too many blogs about it. But I am making a commitment to return where I began herer. With stories about growing up in CdA, local history and family and friends. Acebook, I was...

The Old Koot: January 2010
http://theoldkoot.blogspot.com/2010/01
A Coeur d'Alene Native Spills His Guts. Friday, January 29, 2010. Two Blogs Are Better Than One (sometimes). That's what I've got going, two blogs about Coeur d'Alene and North Idaho. I work part time for Kagey Company that, among other things, publishes the annual Guide to North Idaho. My tasks include gathering information on what's happening in North Idaho and updating not only the accompanying website, www.fyinorthidaho.com. But also the companion blogs, Facebok and Twitter accounts. I was born in th...

The Old Koot: September 2009
http://theoldkoot.blogspot.com/2009/09
A Coeur d'Alene Native Spills His Guts. Monday, September 21, 2009. Beautiful Lake Coeur d'Alene. Here's a photo Dad took from the point of Tubbs. Hill in the early 60's. Didn't it look like a sleepy, laid back lake? Not many houses and hills were covered with trees, not dotted with the homes of affluent transients like today. And sailboats were quiet and graceful as they navigated the blue waters, now wake strewn from countless ski boats and jet skis on any given summer day. If you think Lake Coeur.
