In the midst of our disappointment, there are three specific things for which we are very grateful:. 1) For a variety of reasons, we didn’t ever really feel attached to this situation. (Don’t forget, at this point in our journey, we have some highly developed defense mechanisms. It felt unhealthy at moments, but in this case, it served us well.). 3) We told a minimal group of people.

This whole thing happened so quickly, we had very little time to consider names. As you may or may not know, our two sons have “J” names and so do our two nephews on the the Jackson side of the family and of course, Jonathan does too. This past weekend, a young family with 4 adopted children connected to my home church experienced the sudden loss of the dad in a motorcycle accident. This past week, an area teacher who has 4 young children was hit and killed while jogging. That’s enough to make you grab your family, hold them tight and be thankful, to say the least!
