Fieldwork projects for Key stage 3 and 4. Below are teaching resources for research studies that have previously been used at Bawdsey. They can easily be adapted for different age groups or just used for inspiration for your own studies. Also look at the activities for KS2 as you may be able to adapt some of the ideas for older students e.g. pond dipping or invertebrate surveys. Beach Survey Project: studying longshore drift. Below are some additional ideas for activities on site. You are also welcome to make a preliminary visit to explore the site and create your own projects and activities. We have pipistrelle bats roosting on site and we can direct you to the best places to see them. At the moment we have one basic bat detector and guides which you can use. We can provide you with maps of the site and compasses for you to create your own orienteering course or treasure hunt. Astronomy in the secret garden.

Bawdsey offers a diverse range of opportunities for activities on site for all age groups and subject interest. We have provided some lesson plans for fieldwork and activities for younger students, but you are welcome to visit the site in advance to plan your own projects. Our centre is open from September to May for fieldstudies. Bawdsey is home to the Alexander’s International School, which is full in the summer months with students studying on the popular English language programme. If you require the fieldstudies outside of these dates, please let us know in case we have availability. On site study facilities:. At least two classrooms for your sole use. As of October 2016 Alexanders College has closed and Bawdsey Manor is up for sale. Unfortunately as part of the estate, Bawdsey Quay Watersports Centre has also closed despite having a great year. Plans are currently underway to open a Training Centre at Felixstowe Ferry Sailing Club. We aim to offer a range of RYA courses starting in summer 2017.
