Suriname can be reached by ferry which sounds simple enough but you have to wake up before dawn and show up 5 hours before it departs to get a spot. Monday, August 29, 2016. Not gonna lie, I took a little vacation after my vacation to settle back in and catch up on my Spanish, book reading, and meditations. Sunday, December 27, 2015. I've really enjoyed December in Guyana. Christmas snuck up on me in the village. Christmas Lights are called "Fairy Lights" here and there weren't many of those, but the local shop suddenly had toys hanging from the ceiling, the church sprouted decorations, and then the usual music blasting from houses changed to classic Christmas Carols but with Caribbean beats. Xmas Crafts- Making Stockings. Leaving Santa a Note and Snack. Mark Finally got his watch! My Xmas Tree Corner.

Sunday, May 15, 2016. Anil is helping me color coordinate the books so that he and a few others can keep the library organized long-term. I recommended leatherette couches for the library which can now serve as an inviting area for the community and a new activity spot for the residents! I gave a training on workplace diversity that was light and fun for the all the nurses- hoping to do a few more of these trainings to encourage teamwork for the future changes we hope to see.
