Adventures in cooking in my kitchen
Bean's Bistro: September 2008
http://beansbistro.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html
Monday, September 29, 2008. Oh, pardon, I got a little excited there! Fall is my favorite season and nothing heralds in the season better than pumpkin foods. After my disastrous jell-o mold, I thought I'd get back up on the horse with the new silicone bundt pan. It didn't matter though- it was delicious! We've been munching it for both breakfast and for dessert. Sorry coworkers- I was going to bring it in to share, but I think we're going to gobble it down ourselves! Pumpkin Bundt Cake with Orange Glaze.
Bean's Bistro: Chicken Mole
http://beansbistro.blogspot.com/2008/10/chicken-mole.html
Monday, October 13, 2008. As I stated back then, this is not a dish made by grounding up small ground-dwelling mammals. This is a Moe-LAY- much different. And this time it was fairly traditional and oh so tasty! I served this over white rice with some sweet potatoes that I roasted with a little brown sugar and olive oil. It would have also been great in corn tortillas or just on its own! Based off various recipes at AllRecipes.com. 1 Onion, chopped. 1 Tomato, chopped. 1 tsp 1 tsp. Cumin. Add in the onion...
Bean's Bistro: October 2008
http://beansbistro.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html
Monday, October 13, 2008. Halloween is right around the corner, which means we're throwing our annual party! Yippee for costumes and a full spread and friends! I'm trying out a few new things this year, and had to get a jump on it early. First I made the pumpkin truffles- my first venture into ganache and real candy making. What a pain- but I'll post about that another day. Then I needed to try out a recipe that sounded great in my head, but I didn't know if it would actually taste good or not. Remove fr...
Bean's Bistro: Sun-Dried Tomato Risotto
http://beansbistro.blogspot.com/2008/09/sun-dried-tomato-risotto.html
Monday, September 29, 2008. So not only do I love that risotto fits into my dinner prep schedule, it is also so versatile! You can have your plain Parmesan version or you can kick it up with artisan cheeses, specialty mushrooms, savory vegetables, smoky meats, or fresh seafood. This chameleon dish is happy to be the star of the meal, or morph into a perfect complimentary side. Sun Dried Tomato Risotto. From Mooney Farms, Bella Sun Luci Sun Dried Tomatoes. 1 Onion, chopped. 2 Cloves of Garlic, minced.
Bean's Bistro: Fried Tofu with Peanut Sauce
http://beansbistro.blogspot.com/2008/09/fried-tofu-with-peanut-sauce.html
Sunday, September 21, 2008. Fried Tofu with Peanut Sauce. There's a fun game I like to play. it's called catch up! The premise of the game is you go back through your food pictures and see that you have great recipes from, um, July that you haven't posted yet and then you spend a Sunday evening finally putting them up for the "world" to enjoy! It's a lot of fun. The best is trying to remember what the heck you changed from a recipe- d'oh! Fried Tofu with Peanut Sauce. Loosely based from Food Network.

Smells Like Home: Spinach Polenta
http://thecookingfiend.blogspot.com/2008/01/spinach-polenta.html
A collection of favorites from a kitchen-saavy New Englander. Thursday, January 31, 2008. In the past few months, I've really come to love polenta. I haven't attempted it in its baked or fried forms yet but those recipes are in the works. During my most recent meeting with polenta, I decided to get a little crazy (sarcasm) and add some fresh spinach.and some grated Pecorino-Romano cheese - what? Remember my Cheese Is Love. The result was outstanding! I paired this treat with the most outstanding pork chop.
Smells Like Home: November 2007
http://thecookingfiend.blogspot.com/2007_11_01_archive.html
A collection of favorites from a kitchen-saavy New Englander. Tuesday, November 20, 2007. Pumpkin in the form of cake. So back to last night. I pulled this recipe. Off one of my new favorite website. I should note a couple of things here:. As much as I was longing to try the honey cream cheese frosting, I omitted the honey because Kyle is allergic to it when it's uncooked. BOO! Why do I trust anyone other than myself? I learned the hard way that it's necessary to adjust the oven temp when using dark pans...
Smells Like Home: Pasta Primavera
http://thecookingfiend.blogspot.com/2008/01/pasta-primavera.html
A collection of favorites from a kitchen-saavy New Englander. Tuesday, January 29, 2008. Yes, yes, I do realize that we are in the middle of winter but I really needed a dish to make it feel like spring.it's cold here in New England! So I threw a bunch of summer veggies in my cart and set out to recreate a killer pasta primavera my office ordered for our holiday lunch back in December. Source: Smells Like Home. 2 tbsp olive oil. 1 small to medium zucchini, cubed in 1/2" pieces. 3 cloves garlic, minced.
Smells Like Home: Peanuttiest Blondies
http://thecookingfiend.blogspot.com/2008/02/peanuttiest-blondies.html
A collection of favorites from a kitchen-saavy New Englander. Thursday, February 7, 2008. I was lucky enough to have a couple of very thoughtful people send me gift "cards" to amazon.com for Christmas and since I didn't receive the top 2 items on my Christmas list this past season, I decided to treat myself to these two items, which of course, happen to be cookbooks. Over the past couple of years, Ina Garden. I've pined over this cookbook for a year now and for whatever reason, never got around buying it.
