This week, looking at my district’s policy, the state’s standards, and looking at some other policies, I am struck by Alaska’s diverse communities and needs. How do we best prepare out students for 21st century living? How do we write policy that is college-readiness focused, yet inclusive of those students who choose apprenticeship, subsistence living, or labor not requiring a degree? Hard to keep those emotions in check and not react, isn’t it?
