Ballet Dress Redux | Dapper Duds

Sewing, fashion, fabric, and things I like. Skip to primary content. July 28, 2013. This is my second version of Dixie DIY’s Ballet Dress Pattern. Here is my first. I constructed the entire dress (except for the lace) on my serger. This was the first time I was able to do that. Man was that fast and easy! The tension was never right and it would pull apart, so I only used it to finish seams before. I took it to Modern Domestic. This entry was posted in Finished Projects. And tagged Dixie DIY. And that la...

Just another WordPress.com site. Spinach Risotto with Sorrel Pesto. Mom’s Turkey Meatballs →. Poached Eggs with Sorrel Pesto and Asparagus. April 28, 2013. This is a beautiful Spring brunch and part three of the sorrel pesto. It’s a Springtime spin on classic Asparagus Milanese. Which combines asparagus with fried eggs and lots of parmigiano cheese. Blanched asparagus were left over from last night’s meal, so I sauteed them in butter and used them to catch the sauce. Simmer uncovered for about 4 – ...

Just another WordPress.com site. Flageolet Stew with Turkey and Farro. Salmon with Arugula and Green Olive Pesto →. June 2, 2013. I love a good burger or croquette of almost any kind! Since I had a piece of wild king salmon leftover from last night’s dinner, I was determined to do it justice. These cakes were inspired by an earlier post of mine ( tuna and potato croqettes. The croquettes in that earlier recipe were dipped in the traditional flour/egg/crumb mixture, then deep-fried. 1/4 c chopped dill.

Just another WordPress.com site. Joe Famularo’s Sicilian Rigatoni with Eggplant, Zucchini and Curry. April 9, 2014. This recipe came from a wonderful memoir/cookbook that I recently read entitled “Perdutamente–Crazy for Italian Food” by prolific cookbook author and friend, Joe Famularo. Greeks, Arabs, Byzantine, Normans–all of these civilizations have occupied Sicily at various times throughout history, and all have left their aromatic spices in the Sicilian culinary repertoire. 1/2 c olive oil. Salmon with Arugula and Green Olive Pesto | italianatedotcom

Just another WordPress.com site. Lasagna Two Ways →. Salmon with Arugula and Green Olive Pesto. June 2, 2013. This pesto is a bright, rich and slightly tart sauce that’s great for fish and seafood. The ingredients in my market that inspired this meal were Marcona almonds and pitted green Sicilian olives. I could tell that these olives were at a perfect stage of curing–still some brightness left in their color–tart, but not too deeply cured flavor. Arugula and Green Olive Pesto. 1/3 c marcona almonds.
