My mom group had a French picnic for Bastille Day and that meant lots of food. We could have said “let them eat cake” (historically inaccurate, BTW), but instead I said “let's eat pie.”. Red Raspberry Pie via Alice Bay Cookbook. Makes 1 9” pie. 1 9” baked pie shell (use one half of the best pie dough recipe ever. And fully blind bake it.). 1 quart fresh raspberries. 190; c. sugar.

Mini Pear Pies slightly modified from Mogwai Soup. Makes 12 mini pies. World's greatest pie dough. 5 pears, pealed and chopped. 189; c. sugar. Peel of one lemon. 1 Tb lemon juice. Pinch of ground ginger. 2 cardamom pods, crushed. 1 Tb of corn starch. A few Tb. of water. 1 egg beaten with a tablespoon of water. Plus they look really fancy.
