Ramblings of a mildly misanthropic bibliophile - “We are two abysses – a well staring at the sky.” ― Fernando Pessoa

Ramblings of a mildly misanthropic bibliophile. We are two abysses – a well staring at the sky. Fernando Pessoa. So it goes -Kurt Vonnegut. Due to pain and discomfort I have been feeling sorry for myself and had cut out the majority of the exercise that had helped we lose weight. I’ve also been eating quite badly. Looking back over the past 3 months I suppose I’ve been stressed, sore and depressed. I just don’t know. Every year my arthritis gets worse and I find new aches, pains, and limitations imposed ...

Calbraith – Ramblings of a mildly misanthropic bibliophile

https://bibliophilisticjumble.wordpress.com/author/calbraith

Ramblings of a mildly misanthropic bibliophile. We are two abysses – a well staring at the sky. Fernando Pessoa. I thought that I would add a little update to my previous post. I’m down another 8 lbs and I’m sitting at 171 lbs. I had a couple of weeks where I walked quite a bit less, my coworker was away as was my lovely wife and I was unmotivated. I slipped a bit, climbing from 171.4 back up to 174, but I’m back on track. May 18, 2016. I managed to do reasonably well, getting my weight down from 191 lbs...

Ramblings of a mildly misanthropic bibliophile. We are two abysses – a well staring at the sky. Fernando Pessoa. Remembrance of Fitness Past. I vaguely remember the last time I went through this; I swore I wouldn’t let myself go again, but life sneaks up and suddenly you realize you are back where you started, nearly 10years later and 30lbs heavier. So hear we go again. Current weight: 184 lbs(it was 189 lbs 2 weeks ago) BP: 155/95 (yes I know, my Dr already gave me the lecture and rightly so). This entr...

Ramblings of a mildly misanthropic bibliophile. We are two abysses – a well staring at the sky. Fernando Pessoa. Memory is a strange thing and nostalgia is a peculiar companion. It is foolishness, but one must face his own insecurities and foibles. I am often rather lugubrious in my person, but I wasn’t always so. I become lachrymose at this point each year. The 21. Do I want D back? I suppose I am a maudlin romantic, but sometimes I hope that she thinks of me too. September 30, 2014. You are commenting ...

Holiday Reads – Ramblings of a mildly misanthropic bibliophile

https://bibliophilisticjumble.wordpress.com/2014/03/05/holiday-reads

Ramblings of a mildly misanthropic bibliophile. We are two abysses – a well staring at the sky. Fernando Pessoa. 1- Amerika Franz Kafka. Always wanted to read and now I can strike it off of my list. It was much funnier than I thought it would be and I found that I really enjoyed it thoroughly. 2 – Book of Sketches, 1952-57 Jack Kerouac. Stream of consciousness poetry? Sometimes unclear whether it was prose or poetry, but either way, it was a beautiful glimpse into the mind and life of Kerouac. Address ne...

Solitary weekend – Ramblings of a mildly misanthropic bibliophile

https://bibliophilisticjumble.wordpress.com/2014/09/15/solitary-weekend

Ramblings of a mildly misanthropic bibliophile. We are two abysses – a well staring at the sky. Fernando Pessoa. My lovely fiancée left to visit her cousin up north last Wednesday. Tonight she will be home again. I’ve missed her, but I must admit that I really enjoyed the quiet time; especially this weekend. All the laundry is done too, lots of bedding. I found my Slanket! Yes I have a Slanket; It was gift from my kids about 12 years ago. Do they still make slankets? I also managed to finish my Proust!
