World o' Jeff: June 2013
http://worldojeff.blogspot.com/2013_06_01_archive.html
The trials, tribulations and jaundiced observations of a single guy over 40 under the magical desert skies of Palm Springs. Aircraft, architecture, automobiles. Wednesday, June 26, 2013. From October 2008, written on the eve of the Passage of Prop. 8. Reposting in honor of today's Supreme Court decision:. I saw him last week and gingerly asked if there was any more discussion on the subject. "Oh, we did it", he replied. "We got married". "What? How did that happen? Ed asked, and was told that they could ...

Notes On My Life: I give up
http://lynettejustlynette.blogspot.com/2006/08/i-give-up.html
Notes On My Life. On this strange life, being sober, sex, dogs, hussies and tramps, eating, not eating, politics, madness, being alive. Tuesday, August 15, 2006. I have been so caught up in politics and world events and the (seemingly hopeless) state of our nation, that I've found myself teetering back and forth on the brink of despair. And thanks for reading. Posted by Lynette at 3:28 PM. Have you ever considered raw foods? I'd say give it a try. the only thing you can lose is weight. BTW, I feel your p...

CRACKER ROSE COTTAGE: December 2008
http://crackerrosecottage.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html
The chronicle of years spent renovating a 1940s Florida Cracker home. Monday, December 29, 2008. A purple-flowering bromeliad specimen:. One of the many iguanas that roam Miami, this fellow is an unwelcome invasive species that is probably descended from a stowaway in a box of fruit from the Caribbean:. Here, Andrew is next to a silk floss tree (Chorisia speciosa). We managed not to feed or get eaten by any cocodrilos. And headed back to Glenn's for homemade eggplant parmigiana, my favorite Italian dish!

World o' Jeff: December 2014
http://worldojeff.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
The trials, tribulations and jaundiced observations of a single guy over 40 under the magical desert skies of Palm Springs. Aircraft, architecture, automobiles. Sunday, December 21, 2014. A very sad anniversary to recognize- it was twenty-six years ago today that a Boeing 747-121, bearing s/n 19646 and registered to Pan Am as N739PA took off from Heathrow and ascended into immortality. Clipper Maid of the Seas. The fifteenth 747 ever assembled, Clipper Maid. Moments later First Officer Raymond Wagner req...

The trials, tribulations and jaundiced observations of a single guy over 40 under the magical desert skies of Palm Springs. Aircraft, architecture, automobiles. Thursday, April 10, 2014. Cremains of the day. And there he was. We put Russell on the round table in the family room and I talked to him every time I walked by. But we all understood that this was only a temporary abode that raised a question we had thus far failed to ask- what exactly to. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile.

World o' Jeff: Whitewall Tires
http://worldojeff.blogspot.com/2015/06/whitewall-tires.html
The trials, tribulations and jaundiced observations of a single guy over 40 under the magical desert skies of Palm Springs. Aircraft, architecture, automobiles. Sunday, June 21, 2015. Her transportation was a sad little 1980 Buick Skylark that had seen better days. It wore an aging blue landau top and a fading gray Maaco paint job, and on the day in question, sat inside the University parking ramp with a flat tire. An hour later he came back from lunch and put her keys on the reception desk. “Y...Subscri...

wits' end: turbulence ahead

Walking into a dark wood, but marking a trail on the way. Sunday, 25 April 2010. I had a phone ca. Ll on Thursday to tell me that Mum had "had a fall" just outside her room and was on her way to hospital to be x-rayed. I was tempted to get in the car straight away but I was advised to wait until the results were in. It turned out that there were no broken bones and Mum was back by the evening. I resolved to drive over on Friday. Life in the household is very calm these days. A couple of the more trou...
