Notes from the Great Allegheny Passage. New features are popping up all along the Great Allegheny Passage. On a ride from Deal to Rockwood I was pleased to find that the new deck overlooking the river and Rockwood was finished. It's beautifully done and commands a fine view of the town. The overlook is just beyond the parking lot on the east side of Rockdale Road. That's the side opposite from the Stembower Visitors Center and the Bikeshop. Posted by Paul g Wiegman. Picking the "best" ride is hard since there are so many places to enjoy autumn, but may I make some suggestions. At the dedication of the Duquesne Tunnel yesterday some significant additional steps were announced to close the gaps in the GAP. From the Pittsburgh Post Gazette;. Allegheny County Executive Dan Onorato also announced an agreement with Norfolk Southern Railway that will clear the way for completion of another 2.5 miles by next summer, from Duquesne to the Waterfront shopping complex. The trail is now open from McKeesport, PA across the Riverton Bridge in into the Duquesne, PA. Specifically East Grant Street.
