Secret Knowledge of Backroads. Harleston is a lovely little Market Town which offers direct onward feed to National Cycle Route 30 to the Coast at Lowestoft. Two alternative routes, A and B are offered - A is the slower and quieter route whilst B is faster but with more traffic. 1 Turn right out of Ox and Plough, along cycle path to Abbey Road. Turn right and follow the road for 3 miles (passing airfield on left and water tower on right) until a main crossroads is reached.

Secret Knowledge of Backroads. December 11, 2015. I've just returned from a gentle 8 mile Winter ride around some local backroads. Before setting off I've got into the habit of taking out my phone, starting up the Strava app and popping it back in my pocket. If my 15 year old self had been told "one day, you will carry a small device in your pocket which will contain the sum total of human knowledge and let you map your cycle rides into the bargain" I'd have dismissed them as science fiction fantasists.

The phalaenopsis indoors was a much appreciated gift from the senior branch of the family. We are fortunate in having a decent sized spinney just opposite our front door, three or four more within pleasant strolling distance and several grassy public areas within the vicinity. Mountain biking routes and stuff in Scotland. Sunday, July 10, 2011. Too old, too unfit, too slow. Any excuse will do. Two of undertook 10 @ Kirroughtree and managed four laps. Poor. I can't even bring myself to go on typing. I blame the midgies. Position: 76th out of 83. Pedaling time: 8 hours 22 minutes but much of that involved the timing chip sitting in the sun. Distance: Just over 10 miles per lap. Number of laps completed: 5 (although we can only remember doing 4 :p). Bike shop: At the car park.
